A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who has continued to support HEAR through our wishlist!

The response from our community has been nothing short of amazing. With kitten season in full swing and more animals arriving in our care, your donations of food, litter, cleaning supplies, bedding, toys and other essentials have made a tremendous difference.

Every item donated helps us stretch our resources further and allows us to focus more of our funds on veterinary care, spay and neuter services and finding forever homes for the animals who need us most.

This year has already brought us an incredible number of kittens, and thanks to your generosity, we have the supplies needed to keep them healthy, comfortable and loved while they wait for their families.

We truly couldn't do this without you. Thank you for standing behind HEAR and the animals of Sublette County. Your kindness makes every rescue possible. ❤️🐾

A huge thank you to the Jackalope Motor Lodge and the Hofer family for donating their clean, "almost perfect" towels to HEAR!

While they may no longer be suitable for guest rooms, they are absolutely perfect for rescue animals. These towels will be used every day for cleaning, bedding, bathing and helping keep our shelter animals comfortable while they wait for their forever homes.

We are so grateful that the Jackalope Lodge and the Hofer family thought of HEAR. Donations like these help us stretch our resources and ensure more of our funds go directly toward animal care.

What a wonderful community we live in! Thank you for supporting HEAR and the animals of Sublette County. ❤️🐾

What is the hardest part about leaving the rescue at the end of the day?

It's the faces in the windows.

The ones watching you walk to your car. The ones hoping today might be the day someone chooses them. The ones who don't understand why everyone else gets to go home.

Doug and Gypsy are two of those faces.

Doug is more than ready for his forever family. He loves attention and would happily trade his window seat for a spot on your couch.

Gypsy is getting there. She is still a little spicy after her recent spay surgery and all the changes in her life, but beneath that cautious exterior is a sweet girl who just needs time to trust. Once she does, her loving personality shines through.

Both cats are spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped. All they need now is a family to call their own.

If you're looking for a new companion, consider giving one of these deserving cats the chance they've been waiting for. Because every face in the window deserves a view from a forever home.

To meet Doug or Gypsy, message, text or call HEAR today at 307.360.6000..

Happy Gotcha Day, Juniper! 🐾💕

June Bug, now known as Juniper, has officially headed off to Colorado to start her next big adventure with her new family!

This lucky girl now has a new human sister, a dog brother, and two cat siblings to keep her company. And one thing is for sure — Juniper will have no shortage of activity, which is exactly what this busy, smart girl needs!

Her new family had been looking for a super active dog to join them on daily runs and weekend camping trips, and Juniper is the perfect fit. We are so excited for all the adventures ahead for this beautiful girl.

Happy Gotcha Day, sweet Juniper! We can’t wait to see you thrive. 🏔️🐶💛

Doug. ❤️

It's impossible to spend time with Doug and not fall in love with him.

One minute he's showing off his playful side, chasing toys and reminding everyone that he appreciates being rescued! The next, he's following you from room to room, asking for attention, belly rubs and reassurance that he's still your favorite feline in the rescue.

Doug has come such a long way since arriving at HEAR. What we've discovered is that beneath that handsome face is a cat who simply wants to be loved. He craves companionship, enjoys being involved in whatever you're doing and has a way of making every day a little brighter.

At the end of the day, saying goodnight to Doug is often the hardest part. He's the kind of cat who makes you want to stay just a little longer- and we do.

Doug, who is 2, does have Feline Idiopathic Cystitis (FIC), a condition that can be aggravated by stress. Because of this, we're looking for a home where he can be the one and only cat for a while, allowing him the stability and calm environment he needs to thrive. In return, he'll give you all the love, affection and companionship you could ever want in a feline friend.

Doug has plenty of personality, plenty of love to give and is ready to find the person he's been waiting for.

To learn more about Doug - message, text or call HEAR at 307.360.6000 or submit an adoption application:https://airtable.com/appt1kgR2LNQ6UuIz/shr87v5K4iCNrIPUZ

How Free is a “Free” Kitten?

Every spring and summer, kittens seem to appear everywhere. It's tempting to think a "free" kitten from a friend, neighbor or Facebook post is the less expensive option. But is it really?

When you adopt a kitten from HEAR, our adoption fee is $125. That fee helps cover:

• Spay or neuter surgery
• Age-appropriate vaccinations
• Microchip identification
• Veterinary examination and care
• Food, litter and daily care while in foster or rescue

If you've ever priced a spay or neuter surgery, vaccinations and a microchip separately, you know those costs can easily exceed several hundred dollars. By adopting through a rescue, much of that expense has already been covered, thanks to our amazing donors, making adoption a responsible and affordable choice.

Thinking About Rehoming Kittens Yourself?

If you find yourself caring for an unexpected litter, please take time to carefully screen potential adopters.

• Ask about their living situation and experience with pets.
• Discuss who will be responsible for the kitten's daily care.
• Ask about their plans for veterinary care and spaying/neutering.
• Consider charging a reasonable rehoming fee to help ensure a serious commitment.

Unfortunately, there are already far more kittens than available homes. Every unaltered cat can contribute to the cycle of overpopulation, resulting in even more homeless animals needing help.

Considering a Kitten? Consider Two!

Many people are surprised to learn that two kittens are often easier than one. Kittens raised together help burn off each other's energy, provide companionship, learn important social skills and are less likely to develop unwanted behaviors caused by boredom or loneliness. If you're ready to welcome a kitten into your family, adopting a pair can be a wonderful option.

The good news? HEAR currently has several wonderful kittens growing, learning and preparing for their forever homes. They will be available for adoption soon!

If your home and schedule are ready for a lifelong companion, we encourage you to watch our page for upcoming adoptable kittens and submit an application: https://airtable.com/appt1kgR2LNQ6UuIz/shr87v5K4iCNrIPUZ

Thank you!

Arrow: Professional Kitten Babysitter 🐾❤️

If patience were an Olympic sport, Arrow would be bringing home the gold medal.

Arrow, our handsome 3-year-old, 15-pound neutered gentleman, has taken on an unexpected role at HEAR: kitten supervisor.

Over Memorial Day weekend, two tiny brothers, Honor and Valor, arrived at the rescue at just 8 weeks old. While they're still learning the ropes, Arrow has been showing them what it means to be a confident, friendly cat.

In the video, you'll notice Valor is completely fascinated by Arrow's tail and seems convinced it's the world's greatest toy. Meanwhile, Honor has decided that staying on camera is overrated and keeps wandering off to investigate everything else around him.

Through it all, Arrow remains calm, patient and incredibly tolerant of his much younger roommates. Whether he's being followed, watched or having his tail ambushed, he takes it all in stride.

Arrow is proof that some cats truly are ambassadors for their species. His gentle nature has helped Honor and Valor settle into rescue life, and we're pretty sure the boys think he's the coolest cat they've ever met.

The good news? All three boys are looking for homes!

Arrow is available for adoption and would love a family of his own. Honor and Valor are also accepting adoption applications. Both kittens have received their age-appropriate vaccinations and HEAR will cover their neuter surgeries and microchipping when they are old enough.

Thinking about adopting a kitten? Consider adopting two!

Kittens raised together provide companionship, burn off each other's energy, learn important social skills and are often less likely to develop boredom-related behaviors. Honor and Valor are a bonded pair of brothers who already have a built-in best friend, making them an ideal duo for many families.

Thank you, Arrow, for helping our newest rescues adjust to rescue life and for being such an incredible role model for these little boys. 🧡🐾

Dogs are talking to us all the time — the question is, are we listening?

Understanding canine body language is one of the best ways to prevent bites, reduce stress and build stronger relationships with our dogs. A wagging tail doesn't always mean a dog is happy, and subtle signs like lip licking, yawning, turning away or showing the whites of their eyes can indicate discomfort or anxiety.

This helpful "Doggie Language" chart highlights many of the common signals dogs use to communicate how they're feeling. By learning to recognize these cues, adults and children can interact more safely and respectfully with their canine companions.

🐶 Some signs mean:
✔️ "I'm relaxed."
✔️ "Let's play!"
✔️ "I'm excited!"
⚠️ "I need space."
⚠️ "I'm feeling stressed."
⚠️ "Please stop what you're doing."

Every dog deserves to be heard, even when they aren't using words.

Take a few minutes to study this chart and share it with family and friends. Understanding dog body language can help keep both people and pets safe.
