We're thrilled to share some great news! The Rota Foundation has generously granted $5,000 to support Food Jobs Work. This gift will help us keep providing culinary training and career support to adults right here in our community. Thank you, Rota Foundation, for your generosity and belief in our mission. We couldn't do this work without partners like you!

This is a great video about a mother sauce, veloute, and several of the derivative sauces you can make from it. And yes, we do veloute and other sauces in class!

ASSISTANCE NEEDED FOR STUDENT FINAL EXPENSES

Making a separate post for the algorithm since the earlier one didn't have a working link when it went out. Please consider giving toward the final expenses of our student and friend John Allen. Link is in comments below.

I am heartbroken to let our students and friends know that we have lost John Allen, a student from Cohort 13 at the end of 2025. He had worked most of the time since at the Pleasant Valley Country Club as a line cook. We are still unsure of the circumstances, but we do have an immediate need to help his fiancé and teenage daughter with the final expenses. I hope you find it in your heart and resources to help. All funds will be separate from others going to Food Jobs Work and will be given directly to the funeral home and family.

Recently, we've held several private dinner events for Arkansans wanting to share what we do at Food Jobs Work with their circles of influence. The attendees have volunteered, shared, and donated toward our training programs, and we just wanted to say a big THANK YOU for your support!

Part of the fun has been showing off our team's newest member, Chef Michael Jonas. His background in fine dining establishments on both coasts (one with a Michelin star) lends a great deal of skill to share with our students and clients. Chef Jonas will lead instruction and also launch our upcoming medically-tailored meal program.

If you are interested in hosting a private dinner to benefit Food Jobs Work, reach out to us at [email protected] for details.
