Thanks to our wonderful community, we served 336 plates of Bobby Loyd chicken yesterday at our annual Valentine dinner—a new record for us. We hope everyone enjoyed their meal, and you can be confident your money will be used wisely to help people in our community who are fighting cancer.
First of all, making this possible are Bobby and Dona Hackworth Loyd and family with all of their work. Terry Denney assists with grilling chicken. We can always count on Lola Sells for her help with ordering food, and BJ Brown is a big help with publicity and serving, and even sponsors several plates for other people. A big thank you to Scotties for donating butter, and Los Ponchos for supplying sour cream. Also to Mayor Cagle and the City of Pikeville crew for letting us use the Municipal Building kitchen. It’s the perfect location for our needs.
Besides Cancer Care Team directors, cooks and servers were Robin Tabor Terry, Kathy Turner, Shirley Pendergrass, Gary Burton, Bree and Pearl Merriman, Dominick Ramirez, and BJ Brown. Helping provide desserts were Shirley, Andrea Blankenship, Jane Wooden, and the Senior Center.
As you can see, a lot of people are involved and it makes the work worthwhile when we have such strong support in the community to help our friends and neighbors during one of the toughest times in their lives. Each person who bought a plate joined the effort to help them. The people of Bledsoe County are wonderful!
