Yesterday we gathered in the Governor's office for the official signing of this important legislation, which addresses cosmetology reciprocity licenses for those seeking to work in SD.

📣HB 1194

clarifies authority for the Cosmetology Commission to credit work experience for educational hours for certain out-of-state licensure applicants, and to require the commission to promulgate rules therefor.

This was brought forward due to many who have experienced inconsistencies, in the out-of-state license process.

The life of this bill has a very passionate and interesting story to tell, but “Daelyns” story was so important to hear and create a resolution for those who have been licensed in other states and needed a clear pathway to get to work here in SD. The determination to keep the process moving forward,

got complicated but it was pertinent to the continuing growth in the industry.

Her story resonated with many, in both chambers and with the final amendment.. It passed in the House 67-0 and Senate 30-3.

It will go down in history as

“Daelyns Bill,” I'm so proud to have the honor of bringing this legislation forward. But mostly, so very Grateful to those who testified and stood strong during this process!

Another monumental moment for the SD Cosmetology industry. The Reciprocity bill was signed into law today! Thank you Tesa Schwans, Amber Hulse, and Joy Hohn. This bill is also known as Daelyn's Bill as she brought the victory for all future reciprocity licensees!!
