As Father's Day comes to a close, we want to take a moment to recognize and thank the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, mentors, and father figures who make a lasting difference in the lives of their families and communities.

Through their love, sacrifice, guidance, and example, fathers help shape future generations and strengthen the communities we call home.
Today, we celebrate the countless men throughout the Lower Pearl River Valley who work tirelessly to support their families, encourage their children, and serve as role models in their homes, churches, schools, and communities.

Today, we join our nation in commemorating **Juneteenth**, a day that marks the fulfillment of freedom and the enduring pursuit of equality, opportunity, and justice for all.

Juneteenth reminds us of the resilience, courage, and contributions of African Americans whose sacrifices and achievements have helped shape our communities and our country. It is a time to honor the past, celebrate progress, and recommit ourselves to building a brighter future together.

Lynn Chiche quit a lucrative job at Ochsner 30 years ago to pursue her mission to solve animal overpopulation. Now at 77, she runs a 27-acre sanctuary and spay-neuter clinics throughout Louisiana and Mississippi.
