Hi neighbors! As part of our Neighborhood Block Watch Grant funding from 2025-26, we received funding to refurbish the 7 existing community bulletin boards, including the one pictured here (located outside Sunshine Market). We're getting started now, with the goal of being done in a few weeks!
Here are the locations we've identified—if you know of another existing bulletin board that we didn't track here, please email us!
- 9th Street and Oak
- Oval Park
- 12th Street and Oak (south side of Sunshine Market)
- Palm Lane near 13th Street (in Coronado Park)
- 13th Street near Coronado/Almeria (in Coronado Park)
- 19th Street and Brill
- Whittier Elementary (Palm/15th St)
The refurbishing project involves fresh coats of paint as well as replacing the black boards with new ones and adding clips to hold flyers without needing a staple gun.
However, we want to make sure there are no conflicts with any thoughtful neighbors who may have been working to maintain any of them. Let us know so we can chat!
We will be increasing our efforts to post physical flyers for our upcoming events and initiatives so our neighbors who aren't active here on Facebook, don't follow our email newsletter, or don't follow us on Instagram can stay informed! (If you're a business in the neighborhood that would like to help us by hosting CNA flyers and Dispatch issues, reach out!)
A few other things to note:
1. This particular effort doesn't include refurbishing/repairing the "Welcome to Coronado" signs that you see around the neighborhood framed in pink metal - neighbors including Frank Rowe and Phil Freedom have been working on these, and we're working with them to get these taken care of via the CNA's Giving Program!
2. With the 2026-27 Neighborhood Block Watch Grant, we have some funds to add 1-2 NEW bulletin boards this coming year, and we have a list going of potential locations. We will further communicate about this effort in our monthly meetings and via email/socials.
All this is to say: if you see work being done or a part of a bulletin board missing, don't panic—they're just getting a lil glow-up!
