Behind the scenes of feeding hundreds during a disaster response.

From trucks arriving to meals being prepared and delivered into the field, our volunteers help make sure that people affected by disaster have one less thing to worry about.

A meal might seem simple, but in these moments it brings comfort, stability, and care when it’s needed most.

From a mountain village shaken by wildfire to becoming a steady source of hope for others ❤️

After witnessing the devastation in Ruidoso, New Mexico, Sofia Theard stepped forward to help, first as a Red Cross event-based volunteer, then as a Disaster Duty Officer supporting people in crisis across her state.

What started as showing up in a moment of community trauma turned into an ongoing commitment to care for others, respond to emergencies, and support teams working on the front lines of disaster relief.

Her impact didn’t go unnoticed. Sofia was recently named Exceptional Volunteer of the Year by the New Mexico Red Cross Chapter.

But for Sofia, it’s never been about recognition, it’s about gratitude and service. “Help is needed anywhere we go… there is something for everyone,” she says.

CPR & AED Awareness Week ❤️

Don’t miss Tina on LinkedIn Live this Thursday 12:45pm-1:45pm on the American Red Cross page talking more about this experience.

Tina used her CPR training to save her dad’s life. Proof that you never know when you’ll be the difference between life and loss.

One class. One moment. One life saved.

Nothing brings people together quite like donuts 🍩

This week, our Red Cross teams made donut drops at military support centers across the region as a small way to thank the people working behind the scenes to support service members and their families every single day.

Treats were delivered across several installations, including Holloman AFB, Kirtland AFB, Fort Huachuca, and Davis-Monthan, MCAS Yuma, helping recognize the teams who care for and support our military community.

Just a small gesture to show appreciation for the people supporting our military members, because they deserve recognition too ❤️

Maureen Wilson is an incredible volunteer who consistently goes above and beyond in disaster response, including home fires and major deployments such as Winter Storm Fern. ❤️

Just last week, a family had lost everything in a home fire. Their teenage son, barefoot and searching for a missing pet, was preparing to head out when Maureen immediately took off her own shoes and gave them to him so he could safely go. That’s why she is seen wearing only socks in one of the photos, because she gave the shoes off her very own feet.

In moments like these and many others, Maureen reflects what disaster response is truly about: compassion, dignity, and humanity in action.

Virtual deployments allow Red Cross volunteers to support disaster relief efforts from wherever they are, and volunteer Linda Crowden is a perfect example of that impact. ❤️

While recovering from a broken leg and traveling with family, Linda supported relief efforts during Super Typhoon Sinlaku by helping reconnect separated loved ones remotely from a sewing room turned disaster-response office.

Congratulations to Scott Salzer, recipient of the Southern Arizona Red Cross Rookie of the Year Award! ❤️

In just his first year as a Disaster Action Team volunteer, Scott has dedicated more than 600 volunteer hours helping families impacted by home fires and disasters across our community. Inspired by the support his own grandparents received from the Red Cross after losing their home in a fire, Scott now gives back by helping others through some of their most difficult moments.

From responding to disasters and educating residents about heat safety and fire prevention, to helping secure pet supplies for families affected by emergencies, Scott continues to go above and beyond in service to Southern Arizona. Thank you Scott!!!

Across Arizona and New Mexico, our teams have sheltering trailers positioned to respond quickly when disaster strikes. These trailers have everything you need to set up a shelter, including cots, blankets, things for meals, a nurse's kit, and much more.

Our amazing Northern Arizona University Capstone students are helping educate fellow college students about the importance of emergency preparedness and why everyone should have a go kit ready before disasters happen. ❤️🎒

A well-prepared go kit can help you stay safe and comfortable during emergencies, evacuations, or unexpected situations.

Go kits should include essentials like:
💧 Water and snacks
🔦 Flashlights and batteries
📱 Phone chargers
🩹 First aid supplies
💊 Medications
📄 Important documents
🐾 Pet supplies if needed

Preparedness is especially important for younger generations, and we are so proud of these students for helping build a stronger, safer, and more resilient community through education and preparedness outreach. 👏
