Martial Artists and Paradise Valley School of Karate are working to help out Operation Welcome Home. Here some information about them:
'The main goal of Operation Welcome Home AZ is to “Establish traditions of respect, honor, and appreciation for the personal sacrifices of our veterans and their families”. We do this by hosting elaborate welcome home ceremonies for returning Soldiers. We also ass
ist with financial and employment resources. We will have representatives from all over the State working through our resource center. The center will be located at the Welcome Home Veterans Park. Operation Welcome Home is designing and building a 7.7 acre “Welcome Home Veterans Park.” This will be anchored by a 360 foot long, 8 foot high Vietnam Memorial Wall with the 58,307 names of the people killed or missing in action from the Vietnam War. More important to this great generation of veterans than to recognize themselves is to honor present and future generations of veterans. The Vietnam Veterans of America’s founding principle is “never again will one generation of veterans abandon another.”
In this spirit the park will be designed with a “walk of time” with space for future installations to honor and recognize those who have served in our nation’s Armed Forces from 1775 to present day. The Vietnam Wall is a poignant reminder for visitors of the importance of supporting our military personnel regardless of the popularity of the war. Aside from the park elements, this project also includes designs for an education center and resource center for veteran services. This is visionary and will be the only of its kind in Arizona. This project has tremendous state-wide support from U.S. Senators John McCain and Jeff Flake, all nine Congressional Representatives, Governor Doug Ducey, local veteran organizations, businesses and other non-profits. We have over 60 volunteers, both veterans and civilians, working to make this dream a reality. We want you to join our efforts and create a sacred space for healing, education and inspiration to our veterans and community. This is an opportunity to leave a legacy for generations to come. '
