VDAY Phoenix - One Billion Rising VDAY 2019! V WEEK PHX 2017 will be a week of events, discussions & productions for the EMPOWERMENT, ACTION and CELEBRATION of the FEMALE SPIRIT!

The 'V' in V-Day stands for Victory, Valentine and Va**na. V-Day is a global activist movement to end violence against women and girls. V-Day is a catalyst that promotes creative events to increase awareness, raise money, and revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations. V-Day generates broader attention for the fight to stop violence against women and girls, including r**e, batte

ry, in**st, female ge***al mutilation (FGM), and s*x slavery. Through V-Day campaigns, local volunteers and college students produce annual benefit performances of The Va**na Monologues, A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer, Any One Of Us: Words From Prison, screenings of V-Day's documentary Until The Violence Stops, and the PBS documentary What I Want My Words To Do To You, Spotlight Teach-Ins and V-Men workshops, to raise awareness and funds for anti-violence groups within their own communities. A couple of quick notes.

- The parking lot and entrance is located off of 1st Street, so you'll turn off of Roosevelt heading north on 1st Street, and the parking lot and building is on the west side of the street. Look for the red balloons!

- All attendees must be 21+ unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian as we'll be serving beer & wine. This will be a CASH bar, so please bring both cash + your ID if you plan to drink.

Eeeee!!! As I’ve produced The Va**na Monologues four times, I thought it would be a good idea to try something new... Thrilled to share I’ve been approved to hold a production of A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant, and a Prayer (MMRP) for the 2019 VDay Season! I (Stacey Champion) will be producing/directing with assistance from my right hand goddess Lindsay Robinson, and the fabulous V-Sister Arana Wolin will be our Hot Mama Stage Manager.

Especially excited that the spotlight this season is on incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women, so our main beneficiary is going to be Reinventing Reentry, founded by the fabulous Sue Ellen Allen. I have some additional ideas up my sleeve as well...😉

I’ll be setting up an audition event tomorrow, but save the date of Saturday, December 8 from 12-4p if you’re interested. ❤️ Productions to take place over VDay 2019 (Thurs., Fri., Sat.).
