Kind to Nature

Kind to Nature Helping at-risk and unadoptable cats and promoting compassion for all living things in our community. WE DO NOT INTAKE PETS for re-homing or do adoptions.

Kind to Nature has been saving animals' lives since 1998, working closely with the general public and rescue community towards saving and helping at-risk animals by networking, providing information and referrals, transportation, spay/neuter assistance, placing cats and kittens with rescues that do adoptions, and helping lost and found pets. We maintain a permanent sanctuary for unadoptable animal

s—the ones no one wants to adopt or rescue, mostly cats that are feral, unsocialized, seniors, have health conditions and other behavior issues, brought in on a case-by-case basis. Please refer to our list of no-kill rescues on the Resources page of our website for a list of reputable rescues that might be able to help. Although we would love to be able to help all animals, it's just not what we do. Kind to Nature also provides assistance in various ways to community cats and caretakers through its Neighborhood TNR program. We utilize fosters for socializing feral kittens and fearful cats that are taken in from individuals or rescued from local shelters and work with other rescues to place adoptable cats and kittens that come our way.

In honor of National Rescue Dog Day we want to acknowledge all the amazing rescue organizations we work with and the incredible people behind the scenes helping, fostering and adopting abandoned dogs in need of care and new homes. We are grateful to our donors that allow us to fund medical care and treatment to rescues throughout Arizona. 🐾

ANOTHER ANNIVERSARY TO CELEBRATE! JOEY joined us May 16, 2019 after a most unusual beginning. This handsome, longhair orange tabby came through an unknown tear in the patio screen door one evening to my surprise and was just sitting in the Arizona room. When I approached, he ran back out and disappeared. He reappeared outside some time later with a limp, so I trapped him, got him fixed, tested and vaccinated and put him in the feral cattery. In 2021, he developed an infection and taken to the vet, then moved into the house to better monitor his health and socialize. Joey was much happier in the house, became friendlier, allowing pets and light grooming. He’s about 11 years old now, but still a little skittish and not fond of handling.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY SHEBA!!
Beautiful SHEBA joined the Sanctuary May 14, 2018. Sheba was found as a pregnant stray by a feral feeder in a nearby neighborhood, exhibiting feral behavior before being confined with her 6 kittens. We placed the kittens with another rescue when they were old enough and brought Sheba, estimated to be about 3 years old, into the feral cattery initially. However, she didn’t seem to care for being in close quarters with other cats, so after she started to become more friendly with me, I decided to move her from the cattery to the house where she’d have more space. That seemed to agree with her, and since then she has grown into a beautiful and very sweet girl who likes to sleep on the bed with me at night.

Feeding makes you a nice person, but fixing them makes you part of the solution for community cats! TNR is the humane solution for the community cat overpopulation!
