Today marks a day we will never forget, the anniversary of September 11th, 2001. Despite the devastation and sorrow of that day, something bold and wonderful was created- the Kennedy-Lugar YES program, designed to build bridges, peace, and global relationships. I'm proud to have been connected with this program since its inception, helping to support these amazing kids. Grassroots action matters. To all of those who participate in this program, thank you for being part of building these important bridges!

Hello everyone (again) -- I am still trying to help out with Rifah -- she can go to Anthem or South Phoenix. Rifah is a 15 year old, vibrant Bengali girl, who is a scholarship student on the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) program! (The photo is a stock photo -- but it does look a lot like her, only she is extremely animated!!!!) I am trying to help find her a host family. Again, I do not work for any organization, I just really LOVE the kids on these scholarship programs and want them to come to our area so I can get to know them.

Rifah loves music (singing and guitar), debate, drawing, and science (STEM). She is a Bengali girl scout, and loves playing badminton and swimming. Her mother is a teacher and her father is a businessman.

Her English is flawless! Her future plan is to become a doctor as she wants to help people. She loves volunteering as well.

Eid Mubarak to all my Muslim friends and relatives! Eid al-Fitr is one of the most important celebrations by Muslims worldwide -- the celebratory feast that marks the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting. Eid is an Arabic word meaning “festivity”; Fitr means “to break the fast.” Eid-al-Fitr begins with the sighting of the new moon. The festival is a time of joy, forgiveness, and gratitude. Let us remember the martyrs in Palestine and pray for them and their survivors that are not able to celebrate. May peace prevail and the genocide end. ❤🌏☮

Happy Holidays to you!
I honor all the holidays that are being celebrated, and send love out to all. I especially am sending love and light to loved ones in Palestine-- the Christian churches that are still standing there are closed for Christmas but they have made the manger scene with baby Jesus in the rubble, like so many of the children and babies that are being found in the rubble. I think many people do not realize that Palestinians are not all Muslims. There is a substantial Christian population as well as Jewish Palestinians. The people of these faiths have lived in harmony for quite some time.

I don’t know what your ‘take’ on the situation in the Middle East is, but just know that it is not a “war,” what we are witnessing is televised genocide. It is very hard to stand by and see the Holocaust happening again. What about “Never again”? This is the slogan that is associated with the lessons of the Holocaust and other genocides. It was used by liberated prisoners at Buchenwald concentration camp to express anti-fascist sentiment. Some of the same people who stand by that saying are repeating history. It is not for me to judge anyone, only the Supreme Being (of which we all are a part) can judge. I am saddened by ALL the killings that have happened, and this includes the people of Israel as well.

As you go about your holiday activities, please do not forget our brothers and sisters in Palestine. I am not saying this to “dampen” your joy. I just find it necessary in my life as I am planning gifts for my family, to remember and pray for the children in Palestine that will not be having any happy holidays. ❤️🙏
