"Send me more people like him. He's a model tenant."
That's what a landlord said about a man who, not long before, was facing homelessness, addiction, and untreated mental illness. The person who helped him turn it around was Peter, who manages a Catholic Charities of Philadelphia shelter for men experiencing homelessness.
Peter helped him find treatment and a home — and years later, he's still there, thriving. What makes the story unforgettable: Peter was once homeless himself, and now runs the very shelter he once lived in.
As Kevin Brennan of Catholic Charities USA shares on the Talking Catholic podcast, stories like Peter's are everywhere in the Catholic Charities network — and they're at the heart of the People of Hope museum, a free, immersive storytelling experience on tour now.
Visit the museum next in Atlantic City June 18–19 at the Catholic Media Association conference, then Freehold, NJ, June 22–23 hosted by Catholic Charities, Diocese of Trenton and Philadelphia June 25–26 hosted by Catholic Charities of Philadelphia — Peter's own city.
