Join If/When/How: Lawyering for Reproductive Justice for a plenary session on "Fighting the Criminalization of Pregnancy Loss." ⚖️

The news is sadly full of reports of continued criminalization of pregnancy loss. This session will discuss how prosecutors and the State work to paint patients as criminals, and how medical professionals have been instrumental in pushing back on that criminalization.

Attendees will come away with concrete suggestions for how health care providers can fight back against the culture of criminalization present in health care institutions today.

Pennsylvania’s Medicaid program covers abortion care starting today. This is a great win for all of us who have fought for abortion liberation in Pennsylvania since 1985. However, the work is just beginning. Just this week we supported six people on the Help Line who were experiencing Medicaid disruptions and could not wait 30 days to be re-enrolled into care.

For that reason we still demand the right to bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom in Pennsylvania. There is no reason Pennsylvanians should be denied care simply because of their income and zip code. It is a shame the office of Attorney General Dave Sunday does not agree and is working to deny Pennsylvanians their right to bodily autonomy.

State funding comes and goes, but we’re still out here funding abortions! Since our last update in April, we’ve provided funding for 500 abortion seekers — many of whom were experiencing intimate partner violence and homelessness. Folks like Aliyah, whose name we changed to protect her privacy.
