The Connected Path Forest Bathing at Lackawanna State Park
1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. | Recovery Speakers

2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. | Forest Bathing

Host(s): Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP), Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR), and Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA)

Forest bathing is a simple practice of slowing down and connecting with the natural environment. Through a short, slow walk — or simply sitting and taking in the surroundings — participants are invited to engage their senses, find moments of calm and experience the benefits of spending time in nature. Part of Pennsylvania’s Recovery in Nature initiative, this event recognizes National Recovery Month and Su***de Prevention Month. It highlights nature as a resource for mental health and overall well-being and for individuals on journeys of recovery from substance use disorder or problem gambling.

Horseplay and Recovery
Join Sync and Turn Key Equestrian for Horseplay and Recovery in Upper Bucks —a relaxed and fun day at the barn where connection, confidence, and community come together—horse-style! No experience needed—just a willingness to show up, and make some new two and four-legged friends.

We’ll kick things off with a group tour of the Turn Key Equestrian facility, go over basic horse safety, and take care of a few essentials like signing waivers. Then we’ll head out to the pastures to meet the horses and bring them in together. You’ll get hands-on experience: Haltering and leading horses to the barn, grooming (yes, brushing and picking hooves!), saddling up and putting on bridles. We will experience walking with horses in the arena and take turns riding on a lead line with a trainer. Afterwards, we’ll learn about cooling down and caring for the horses post-ride and feed a few well-earned treats.

National Save-a-Life Day is a nationwide event across all 50 states focused on public education, fighting stigma, and distributing free Naloxone to help people recognize and reverse opioid overdoses.

Sync Recovery is partnering with Hope & Coffee, a recovery-friendly coffeehouse, to speak with community members about harm reduction, community and state resources available and to give out Narcan.

Garden of D’Grace – August

Join us in the Garden of D’Grace, where we’ll cultivate a shared vegetable, herb, and flower garden made possible through the generosity of Kirkridge. Together, we’ll tend the soil, plant and nurture new growth, and enjoy the simple rewards of spending time outdoors in community.

Whether you have a green thumb or are simply looking for a supportive space to connect and recharge, all are welcome to grow with us in the Garden of D’Grace. This gathering offers an opportunity to connect with nature, build meaningful relationships, and experience the restorative rhythm of gardening. As we care for the garden, we’ll also create space for personal growth, reflection, and conversation.

Please wear comfortable clothing that can get dirty and closed-toe shoes or boots. Bring gardening gloves, any favorite gardening tools, a water bottle, sunscreen and/or a hat, bug spray, a small towel or hand wipes, and any personal medications you may need.

The garden is located down the dirt road to the left of the farmhouse.

Come prepared to dig in, get a little messy, and enjoy a rewarding day of growth, connection, and community in the Garden of D’Grace. 🌱🌼🥕
