Congratulations to senior Samuel Cao (Cello) who will attend Harvard University in Fall 2026. He is currently a student of Gloria dePasquale and participated in Musicopia, PYO Music Institute and Settlement Music School. He attended the Heifeitz Music Institute and Domaine Forget International Music Festival. Samuel was the winner of the Warminster Symphony Orchestra Young Artists Competition, the Rowan University String Ensemble Concerto Competition and Jasper Quartet ’s Christine Kim Young Artist Award. He is the recipient of From the Top’s Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship and the Award. 🎓🎶💐

Before I joined PMAY, I didn’t know many people who were serious about music. I remember watching others perform at PMAY’s showcase concerts, and that motivated me to work hard so I could perform in them too. Congratulations to senior Kealia Grace Smith (Cello) who will attend Boston University in Fall 2026 pursuing a dual-degree in Cello Performance and English on a pre-law track. She is currently a student of Thomas Kraines and participated in PROJECT 440 , PYO Music Institute and Settlement Music School. She attended Ascent Cello Festival, Credo, the Green Mountain Summer Festival and the Heifetz International Music Institute. Kealia was a featured soloist with the Monmouth Symphony Orchestra and is the recipient of the Bruce Montgomery Foundation for the Arts Springboard Grant and Founding Forward Scholarship. 🎓🎻💐

Congratulations to senior Elijah Kovar (Percussion) who will attend Carnegie Mellon University in Fall 2026. He is currently a student of Miles Salerni and participated in PYO Music Institute. He attended the Brevard Summer Program and will attend the Music Academy of the West and Northwestern Percussion Intensive. Elijah is a member of his high school’s Grenadier Band where he is the section leader.

“My experience in PMAY was short as I came in as a rising senior but I felt I accomplished a lot in that time and I wouldn’t have gotten where I am today in my musical career if not for the program. There was a lot of mentorship, financial support and I felt I improved through the countless performance opportunities. I really enjoyed my college auditions!”

Elijah will perform on our graduation concert on Saturday, June 6th, 2026, at 6pm at the Mary Louis Curtis Branch of Settlement. Come hear him perform!

Congratulations to senior Danae Truxler (Violin) who will attend Eastman School of Music in Fall 2026. She is currently a student of Mitchell Newman and participated in PROJECT 440, PYO Music Institute, Settlement Music School and Temple Music Prep. She attended the Ascent Summer Music Festival, Credo, Sphinx Performance Academy and will attend the Green Mountain Music Festival. Danae was the gold medalist of the NAACP Philadelphia Branch’s 2024 ACT-SO competition in the Instrumental-Classical category. She received instrument grants through the Dreamer Instrument Access Program grant from the Black Violin Foundation Inc and Equity Arc. 🎶🎓🎻💐
