Update: The Philadelphia Sumo Club was going to be a spin off of the Phoenixville Sumo Club. A young man from Philadelphia drove the 45 minutes to Phoenixville just about every week for almost a year. He was ready with our support to get the club up and running when life happened.

The Phoenixville Sumo Club is still committed to bringing Sumo to Philadelphia. We have the experience, skills and knowledge. What we need is people who want to learn and place to train.

If you are interested and can commit .... The Phoenixville Sumo Club will partner with you to get Sumo active in Philadelphia.

We are working to bring Sumo to Philadelphia. Phoenixville is about an hour from Philadelphia. If you don't want to drive, and you can be at the Paoli train station by 10h45 ... Let me know. I'll pick you up and take you to practice.

Philadelphia Sumo Club – Update

To quote Robert Burns “The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry.” The Phoenixville Sumo club worked with a fine young man weekly through 2024. He learned the basic fundamentals of Sumo. He learned how to coach and teach Sumo. He learned about conducting inclusive practices safely. Together we were going to start an active Sumo Club in Philadelphia Spring 2025. He was going to run it weekly, and the director of the Phoenixville Sumo Club would come down once or twice a month.

Then life happened. He has had to take an indefinite hiatus.

The Director of the Phoenixville Sumo Club does not have the time or resources to do Sumo every week in Philadelphia.

We need a new person(s) who are willing to learn and to shoulder the load …. Is that You?
