Thank you to all who attended our October meeting! We enjoyed having members of The Society of St. Francis, and rhe producer of the Cabrini movie, Zachary DeCarlo join us.

Zachary talked about how the movie was conceived, with background history. The top producer, Eustace Worthington, as a young man, attended daily Mass at St. Donato's Church, where he learned about Mother Cabrini. Many years later, it influenced his production of the movie. Zachary showed some clips of the movie as well as interviews with Catholic students who were deeply influenced by what they learned about Mother Cabrini from the movie.

Karen spoke about the Shrine for St. Frances Cabrini at St. Donato's Church and progress of the renovations.

As many of you are aware, there is a serious effort to fundraise for St. Donato’s Church. Many of our members and their families were members of the church and hold a special place in their hearts with their beautiful memories of years gone by. Also, St. Donato’s Church is special to our Societa’ members since St. Donato is the patron saint of Guardiagrele.

On Wednesday, August 6th at 3:00 PM, there will be a Festa Italiana di St. Donato Fundraising Dinner which will be held at The Cherry Hill Club, 6608 Haverford Ave., Philadelphia. This will be a catered event and tickets will be sold ahead of time, not at the door. Tickets will be on sale until July 31st at 12:00 AM. For those who do not use the internet or social media, tickets will be sold outside the rectory on Wednesday, July 30th. For safety reasons, only credit/debit cards, checks or money orders will be accepted at the table in front of the rectory.


Our Societa’ will be donating a cake for the dinner.

After the dinner, there is a Vigil Mass scheduled for 6:30 PM in the St. Frances Cabrini Chapel of St. Donato’s Church.


We hope some of you will be able to attend the dinner and/or the Mass.

Reminder: Attend our 2025 Societa Picnic!
INFORMATION BELOW:

This year, we have reserved Sunday, June 22nd for our picnic at the Center for Padre Pio in Barto, PA.

This is an exciting time to visit the Center because they will offer an exhibit of the Eucharistic Miracle of Lanciano. Lanciano is a town in close proximity to Guardiagrele. Many of us have visited the Church of St. Frances in Lanciano and viewed the relics of this extraordinary miracle. You will be inspired by this remarkable exhibit that was researched and presented by Blessed Carlo Acutis in 2005. See the information below.

Please let us know if you plan to attend, either by response via email or by phone (610-446-0434 or 215-530-3123). Please note that if we do not have enough participation, we will need to cancel.

We hope that you will be able to come to enjoy our picnic as we gather together at the covered pavilion in the Center’s beautiful, peaceful, location.

Please feel free to bring all of your family and friends. You should pack your own food and beverages since there are no facilities on the grounds to purchase food or drink. You can arrive as early as 11:00 AM. The buildings in the Center are open from 11:00 AM to 3:30 PM, but we can use the pavilion even after the buildings close.

Thank you to all our members who joined us for our meeting and St. Joseph’s Table yesterday. This traditional celebration is a symbolic “thank you” by the people of Sicily for the prayers to St. Joseph that were answered during a time of severe drought and starvation.

The Frecce Tricolori are coming to our area!

You might be interested in the Philadelphia flyover on August 8th or the Air Show in Ocean City, MD, on August 24th and 25th. This is the first time in 30 years that the Italian air force will be in North America. You can check out the link below for information about the Ocean City, MD airshow. Perhaps those of you who might be vacationing in Ocean City, MD would like to attend (or watch from the beach or boardwalk). Very exciting!
