Remembering an icon. 🤍✨

Today, we lost a woman whose light reached far beyond music. Dolly Parton was an icon for generations of young girls and women, showing us that you too can dream big, work hard, remain true to yourself, and use whatever platform you are given to make the world a little brighter.

Through her philanthropy, Dolly championed children, education, literacy, and communities around the world, which is one of the many reasons she held such a special place in my heart, as well as being a National 4-H alumna. Growing up competing in 4-H talent shows here in Delaware, I looked up to her not only as a performer, but as a woman who encouraged young people to find their voice, share their talents, and never be afraid to dream.🍀

Dolly was a light that shined brightly for so many years, and I hope we can all carry a little piece of that light forward. Her music will continue to play, her books will continue to inspire children, and her kindness will continue to remind us of the difference one person can make. Thank you for teaching generations of girls to dream, to give, to smile, and to be unapologetically themselves.

“If you see somebody without a smile, give ’em yours.” — Dolly Parton💕🌸

Nothing brings me more happiness than doing what I love: giving back with style.

A lot of people look at this list of accomplishments and are stunned, thinking it’s impossible that I’ve done all of these things (and more!). In reality, all it takes is an open mindset, purpose, and an inclination to say yes to every opportunity that is presented to you.

Walk through open doors. Take risks. Learn from your mistakes. All of them are a part of your success story.

Love’s never wasted when it’s shared.

I truly have never felt more happy than when I was singing along to Olivia Dean in concert. The emotions, the vibes, and even the Baltimore seafood boil just brought everyone together. Her “Art of Loving” focuses on the importance of self love and the role music plays as a connector, and after experiencing it live, I have truly healed by the Olivia Dean experience.

Music is such an important and easy way that we can all feel emotion, and be united through it. And after only a couple minutes, I know that everyone in the arena could feel connected to every word, emotion and the love within the music no matter what our differences may have been.

I was honored to attend the Team Jamaica Bickle Philly Independence Gala to not only celebrate Jamaica’s 64th Independence Day, but also to fundraise for Team Jamaica Bickle, an organization that has benefited Jamaican athletes, like Usain Bolt and Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce, by funding their journeys to run at Penn Relays. I stand by the fact that Jamaican people are some of the most welcoming, vibrant, and resilient people you will ever meet, and after seeing how many people came together to support this cause, I was even more inspired by my culture.

It was an honor to be able to assist in distributing awards to the honorees, getting to meet the former prime minister of Jamaica, Bruce Golding, as well as former Philadelphia councilmember Jannie Blackwell, and seeing Janelle Burrell Janelle Burrell in action yet again. What a wonderful night with an even better cause. 🇯🇲

And a moment for the dress… ✨

In pageantry, the formal wear competition isn’t judged on the beauty of the gown, but the confidence of the girl wearing it. Thank you so much to An Affair to Remember Couture and Pageant wear and Sherri Hill for helping me pick out my dream dress so I could take to the stage with poise, elegance, and grace, and walk away as the Preliminary Evening Wear Award Winner!

Experiencing one of many , I was excited to attend a summer program at our nation’s first business school, The Wharton School, located in Philadelphia! Being able to learn about the essentials of entrepreneurship, including how to build your own startup from the ground up and how to strategically manage your own company, has provided me with so much insight that I hope to be able to use in the future as I continue to expand my nonprofit, Artful Wellness.

Thank you so much to the Wharton Global Youth Program for accepting me into this program, all of the professors that gave me a true taste of the business world, and all of the students that made this experience so special!
