This past Sunday the brothers of the Zeta Iota Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi and the Athens Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi hosted its founders day program at First AME Church. All were invited to celebrate the fraternity's 103 years of continuous achievement. This event included honoring outstanding brothers, a dance performance, guest speaker Chuck Kinnebrew and refreshments following the speech. This was a great event and thank you to all those in attendance.

Brother Jason Moffitt helped to host the 2nd Annual Chess and Community conference. This was a youth chess tournament that brought out kids who were interested in playing the strategic game of chess. Brother Moffitt gave a brief speech comparing the game of chess to life. "Choices you will make will either set you up for victory or lead you on a path to being defeated". We hope these young men and women not only learned about the game of chess but also learned a valuable lesson about the choices you make in life.

The Zeta Iota Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi hosted a forum Thursday night in the Zell B. Miller Learning Center to discuss the rules of romance in college. As part of our , five panelists - both women and men - led the forum. Brother John Wood moderated the event. This event had an abundance of diverse students, differing in class, race, age and gender, in attendance to discuss and address issues about college relationships and interactions between men and women. The brothers would like to thank all of the panelists and those who came out to support the program.

The Zeta Iota Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi along with the Athens Alumni Chapter were fortunate enough to hold a basketball themed event for the youth. Hoops for the Nupes was an innovative event that allowed children to interact with the brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi and also experience a live game at Stegeman Stadium featuring the Georgia Bulldawgs. Following being feed by the brothers, the children got to watch the game and were given the opportunity to see some of the players after the game for autographs. The children enjoyed the event as well as the brother hosting the occasion.

The Zeta Iota Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi would like to cordially invite you all to our founder's day program on Sunday, January 26th, 2014 at 3:00pm located at the First AME Church (521 N Hull Street Athens, GA, 30601). Our guest speaker will be Zeta Iota's very own Brother Horace King, the first African American UGA football player to score a rushing touchdown. Food and refreshments will be served. Today the Brothers of the Zeta Iota Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi celebrated hard work with the 4th and 5the graders at Howard B. Stroud Elementary School. As another Guide Right initiative, the brothers provided ice cream and toppings to every 4th and 5th grader for making the school honor roll. We also gave the kids some words of wisdom and maybe even sparked some interest into attending the University of Georgia in the future. The Chapter would like to congratulate the students and encourage them to keep up the good work.

Hooping on the Hardwood was a very entertaining Guide Right that the brothers of the Zeta Iota Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi participated in this past weekend. The brothers were able to work the concession stand along with the brothers of the Athens Alumni chapter. It was a pleasure to watch these young athletes challenge each other to become the champions of the tournament. Brothers collaborated with each other to help prepare the food and sell the food items to the parents, players and fans. We thank Morgan County Middle School for allowing us to participate in this community service initiative and would like to encourage the youth to get out there and stay fit by participating in extracurricular activities.

The Brothers of the Zeta Iota Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi participated in the NPHC's annual Trunk n’ Treat event. The event was held October 23, 2013 at The Varsity locate on Broad Street. The brothers welcomed local athens children to receive candy and other treat from the trunk of their cars. This event serves as a safe alternative to going house to house on Halloween night and we were please to see the kids excited to participate in the event.

The Brothers of the Zeta Iota Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi were privileged enough to serve spaghetti to the local Bates County Upward Bounds program members. Before the food was served the teens were given a little taste of greek life at the University of Georgia. The brothers performed a quick stroll and assisted in serving the group food sponsored by NPHC. We want to thank Upward Bound for their attendence and want to extend an invite to come check out campus at any time.

It is with great pleasure to have conducted a successful and very informative program hosted by Brother Edward L. Tarlton and his colleague from Texas A&M University Admissions. The Brothers of the Zeta Iota Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, along with Texas A & M were able to reach out to students and encourage them to look into pursuing higher education in the business realm. The program discussed the logistics behind Texas A & M prestigious business program while also giving away an all expense paid scholarship for a maymester at the institution. Brother Tarlton spoke on how to make the years in your undergraduate career the most meaningful in order to optimize you graduate school opportunities upon graduation of college. Thank you Brother Tarlton and Texas A & M University for your efforts to expand bulldawg nations horizons.

The men of the Zeta Iota Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. participated in the Dawg Days of Service in the beginning of the Fall 2013 semester. Along with a plethora of other organizations, the brothers took part in cleaning the Brooklyn Cemetery on Alps Road behind Alps Road Elementary School. Some of the tasks included pulling out weeds, raking out leaves and collecting debris. It feels good to know we were able to service the area with other groups and we look forward to helping out the Athens community one service project at a time.
