Yesterday completed Villanova Interdisciplinary Immigration Studies Training for Advocates (VIISTA) program at Villanova University🥳🎓! This course teaches students about American immigration law, cultural competency, legal representation in immigration court, trauma-informed caregiving, self-care, and the past and present struggles encountered by immigrants.

Last year in May I applied to Villanova VIISTA program to become an accredited representative with the Department of Justice by a recommendation of my little cousin who told me to apply for the program and I did just that. The cost of the 1️⃣ year program was $4️⃣0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣. So after my master graduation party I was gifted that by family and friends so I paid for the course out of pocket because I didn’t have any more financial aid left.

On the second hand I was working with an immigration attorney to get my dad back here into the states and we were super close but unfortunately he passed away August 2023. While traveling to Jamaica with family while getting the devastating news on Aug 7th that my dad had transitioned to heaven
🕊️💔 , the next day Villanova called me with little to no service and told me that I was granted a full time scholarship (that was nobody but my dad) but when you are a blessing to others , others bless you and that’s exactly what happen for me and I’m grateful for that🙏🏽

Lastly taking this amazing program at Villanova, I want thank my professor Michele Pistone for believing in me and my nonprofit organization and putting me on the spot yesterday to give a speech to the class I told each and every one of them to be compassionate about this immigration work , remember your WHY and know that you can’t help everyone! NEVER GIVE UP ! Thank you again Michele , You are amazing !
