Pride Month is just around the corner and you know what that means ...
the homophobes and transphobes will be triggered.

But here's the interesting thing about that — the people who complain about Pride are the very reason Pride still exists.

If LGBTQ+ people were fully accepted, protected, and treated with dignity, there would be far less need for a month dedicated to visibility, community, inclusivity and advocacy.

But every year, right on schedule, people show up to complain about rainbow flags, same-s*x couples, transgender people, pronouns, drag queens, and the mere existence of LGBTQ+ people.

So every year when someone asks, “Why do we still need Pride?”

The answer usually shows up in the comments.

Outreach was super busy last night and we ran out of food within 30 minutes. We served pizzas, chips and fruit. Thank you to all the volunteers who showed up to help serve!

Outreach was bittersweet tonight. We are saying goodbye to one of the most rock solid volunteers and board member, Devaney. Devaney joined us several years ago after volunteering through our Children's Hospital of Philadelphia partnership program. She quickly became one of the most dedicated and engaged volunteers. Devaney worked in the substance use treatment field for several years and has a lot of irreplaceable strengths she brought to our program. After being with us for a while, Devaney joined our board and took over data collection and analysis with her strong research background. In a few weeks, she is leaving Philadelphia to explore Europe and plant her roots in another country. We want to thank her for many years of service and hard work. Devaney will be missed beyond words and we are truly lucky to have crossed paths and had the honor to have her on our team. Until we meet again❤️

Outreach was busy last night and everything went smoothly, and people were hungry! We served 200 beef hot dogs and spicy beef sausages thanks to dietzandwatson. Thank you to our amazing volunteer Kara for making a huge tray of ham and cheese casserole. We are starting to see an increase in participants and we would love some fresh fruit donations if anyone is interested in helping us! Don’t mind my favorite girl out there making a comment about my stomach chub 😂
