On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation, enslaved Black souls in Texas were finally notified that they were officially free.
*All enslaved people in the U.S. weren't officially granted their freedom until the 13th amendment was ratified on December 6, 1865.*

Juneteenth serves as a way for US to collectively celebrate OUR Emancipation Day. ❤️✊🏾💚
