Ms. Rachel is fighting to close an ICE facility in Texas that's detaining children. She wants to "make sure that kids and their parents are back in their communities where they belong." https://variety.com/2026/tv/news/ms-rachel-ice-facility-detains-children-dilley-texas-1236696574/

"I am political. It’s political to believe that children are worthy of love and care, and that every child is equal, and that our care shouldn’t stop at what we look like, our family, at our religion, at a border," she told NBC News.

Ms. Rachel recently had a video call with nine-year-old Deiver Henao Jimenez, who is detained at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center in South Texas. The boy told her he "wants to leave and go to the spelling bee."

"It was unbelievably surreal to see this sweet little face and feel like I was on a call with somebody who’s in jail. It broke me, and it was something I never thought I’d encounter in life," she told the news outlet. "We’re trying to get a child out of a jail to do a spelling bee. I just never thought those words would go together."

Tomorrow morning, ICE Out legislation will be introduced at City Hall.

ICE is already active in our city, disappearing our neighbors and terrorizing our community. We've all seen what is happening in Minneapolis. They've executed people in the street, raided public schools and day care centers, dragged elders out into the cold in their underwear, and kidnapped children. We expect Philly to soon be targeted for increased levels of terror as ICE increases their presence in our city. So it is imperative that we do what we can to protect our community.

This legislation reflects years of organizing and immigrant community leadership. Show up and demand ICE out of Philly! The sign up deadline for public testimony has passed, but you can still join your neighbors tomorrow morning to show your support and let City Council know how much we support this legislation.

Too many are being killed by ICE on the streets and in detention centers. Parady La should be eating dinner now with his family rather than being another person killed by the state.

Thanks to your support, we were able to free 146 of our neighbors in 2025 and post $1,134,290 in bail! Those neighbors included children as young as 15 years old, pregnant women, cancer patients, people with epilepsy, stroke survivors, caretakers of severely disabled children and elderly parents, and many others whose only hope for freedom was the bail fund.

We were also able to provide over $89,526 in mutual aid to help folk return to court, secure housing, and rebuild their lives after pretrial detention. That includes $8000 in emergency food aid given out this month.

Thank you to all of our donors, supporters, and grantors! We are only able to stand in the gap for our neighbors due to your support! Any donations given by 11:59 PM December 31st will be deductible from your 2025 taxes. You can give at phillybailout.org/donate Help us to free more of our neighbors in 2026!

We posted bail for our last group of youth for the 2025 Youth Holiday Bail Out on Friday December 19, 2025. This year we bailed out 11 youth, including two 15 year old children. We paid $126,920 in ransom to bring them home to their families.

Thank you to our comrades at Believers Bail Out, Philly Muslim Freedom Fund, The Youth Art & Self-empowerment Project, and YEAH Philly!

And a huge thanks you to everyone who donated to make this year's bail out a succcess!

Ending Cash Bail by Freeing Our Neighbors

The Philadelphia Community Bail Fund posts bail for residents of Philadelphia who cannot afford to pay bail while advocating for the abolition of bail and pretrial detention in our city.

We know that Philly jails are filled with people who spend weeks, months, or even years incarcerated while waiting for court, simply because they do not have the money to pay for their own freedom. Pre-trial detention leads to higher rates of conviction, the pressure to accept guilty pleas, longer sentences, and traumatic disruption of lives including loss of jobs, housing, mental health supports, and devastated families

By paying bail, our fund supports individuals in remaining at home with their families and communities while fighting their cases. Our goal is to end cash bail in Philadelphia while working to free as many people as we can.
