Introducing John Deslippe. Really, no introduction is needed. John proudly represented BAC Local 1 PA/DE and earned first place in the International Apprenticeship Competition—an achievement that speaks volumes about his dedication, skill, and commitment to excellence in the trade.

John’s passion for masonry is obvious to anyone who works alongside him. He doesn’t just want to learn how to perform the work—he wants to understand why things are done a certain way. That curiosity and drive to fully understand the craft have helped set him apart.

After studying historic masonry in college, John decided he wanted more than classroom knowledge—he wanted to get his hands dirty and actively perform the trade he had studied. That decision led him to develop into an outstanding craftsman with a deep appreciation for both the history and ex*****on of quality masonry work.

John’s dedication to preserving traditional techniques while mastering modern methods makes him an incredible asset to any crew and a great representative of our trade. His work ethic, attention to detail, and willingness to continually improve have left a lasting impression. We are excited to see where his career takes him and know he will continue to represent BAC Local 1 PA/DE with pride.

“My favorite part of my apprenticeship was traveling to Atlantic City and Detroit to compete in the BAC International Apprenticeship Competition Contests. It was fun Competing and getting closer with the other Local 1 PA/DE apprentices.”

Noe Trujillo has been part of the masonry trade for over 20 years. He began his career as a mason tender with Laborers Local 199 of Delaware, where he earned a reputation as a hardworking and dependable tradesman—making sure the masons and bricklayers had everything they needed to succeed on the job. Wanting to continue growing in the trade, Noe made the decision to transition his career and become a bricklayer.

Noe is known as a dedicated worker who takes pride in every project and approaches his work with strong attention to detail.

“I had the opportunity to join Local 1 PA/DE in September 2024 and not only continue helping the masons, but through the apprenticeship program, learn and develop the skills of becoming a Bricklayer.

Over the past two years, all of the brothers of Local 1 PA/DE have treated me with respect and helped build my confidence to be on the wall.

I am truly grateful to the Local, especially the teachers and trainers, for everything they have done for me.

I hope to see more of my brothers get involved with the labor movement!”

Introducing Zack Webb. Zack is a graduating stone apprentice with a natural talent for working with his hands. He was able to grasp the concepts of stone, marble, pavers, and brick very quickly, always paying close attention to detail and making sure his work was done to perfection.

Zack was also always willing to help the newer apprentices, showing them the ropes and being a true team player in the shop and on the jobsite. His positive attitude and willingness to help others made him someone both instructors and fellow apprentices could count on.

Zack also proudly represented BAC Local 1 PA/DE in the regional marble competition, demonstrating not only his skill and craftsmanship, but also his pride in the trade and the union. We look forward to seeing all that Zack accomplishes in his career and know he will continue to be a great representative of the BAC.
