Parker for your leadership as we embraced Dr. King's legacy of social justice through citizen action in the 31st annual Greater Philadelphia Martin Luther King Day of Service. Great to have our friend, Governor Josh Shapiro, who joined you assembling Book Arks, which were on their way in the afternoon to their new homes @ organizations in underserved Philadelphia communities. To our forty sponsors, led by Independence Blue Cross, our co-chairs, a tremendous host, Temple University and President John Fry, and to more than 100,000 strong throughout the region, who celebrated Dr. King in so many initiatives, which for so many serves as a springboard to ongoing community involvement. .org .org

Global Citizen 13th Annual Back-to-School Drive - Supporting TM Peirce Elementary School

Dear Friends,

Please join Global Citizen now through September 5 by making a donation in our 13th Annual Back-to-School Supplies Drive! Each school year, this project supports underserved Philadelphia public school students and their families, in partnership with the School District of Philadelphia. This year’s donations will benefit the students from T.M. Pierce Elementary School in North Philadelphia, where over 90% of the students live below the poverty level.

Many families are scrambling now to find school supplies for their children. This includes hunting for coupons and squeezing budgets. The donation drive provides the opportunity to come together as a community to provide necessary tools required for a quality education, for all students!

Your donation can be made now, virtually on RightGift. There is also an option to drop off donations at the school, Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Peirce is located at 2300 W. Cambria Street, Philadelphia, PA 19132 (main entrance on Cambria Street).

Join us for the 18th Annual Bridge Walk for Peace! ✨

On Friday, April 4, we gather to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a sunrise walk across the Ben Franklin Bridge.

📅 Date: April 4
⏰ Time: 6:30 AM (walk begins) | 7:00 AM (sunrise prayer for peace)
📍 Location: Ben Franklin Bridge

This powerful event is a call for peace, unity, and reflection. After the walk, stay for coffee and a discussion on fostering peace in our communities.

Following the Walk-- at approximately 8:00 AM-- participants will disembark from the Bridge to convene at Old St. George’s United Methodist Church-- at the foot of the bridge at 235 N. 4th Street--to discuss solutions for achieving peace in the community.

Access to the Pedestrian Walkway for the Ben Franklin Bridge can be accessed here (https://www.drpa.org/bridges/ben-franklin-walkway.asp). Only one side of Bridge is open, the Philadelphia side of the Bridge, on the side of the Mint.

This is a sign-up for participating in the walk and discussion. The event is free and open to the public but participants are encouraged to register.
