Philly Rat Rescue A small, all-volunteer Philadelphia rat rescue/advocacy/referral group, launched in 2012. We have been 501(c) 3 since June 2017!

We are a small all volunteer pet rat rescue founded to save small numbers of pet rats in urgent, emergency situations involving abuse or neglect. We cannot take rats from shelters usually, pet stores, large hoarding situations, wild rats, or personal pet rats from private owners in most cases unless we have room (if you have grown tired of your pets or are moving, it is your responsibility to find

them a new home if you cannot keep them. We cannot take them in unless we have room, but we will advertise them for you on our Petfinder if you wish). We have 2 foster homes in NE Philly and Delaware County, PA, with one central administrative location . We also serve as an advocacy group for the well-being of domestic rats everywhere, and we serve as a referral agency for the times when we have no foster space for new rats. For day-to-day minor operating expenses, our volunteers contribute their own finances and supplies. For veterinary care, we solicit donations from friends and supporters.

We have 3 Martins Rat Cabins for sale to help raise funds for our vet fund. They are 24x14x24. These are the best rat cages bc they're escapeproof and chewproof, but are not made anymore. Each Rat Cabin is fine for 2 female rats or 1 male rat.

We also have one Martins guinea pig cage for sale, suitable for arthritic rats needing one level.

Prices negotiable. You can buy one or more.

Sanctuary news:

Today TOASTY had to be put to sleep due to several inoperable tumors, one of which got infected. She had had surgery when she arrived last year to remove a small tumor, but after that several larger ones popped up.

She is now with her sister CHEESY. 😭
