Moments ago I spoke to Brittney Griner.

She is safe.
She is on a plane.
She is on her way home.

- President Biden

After 10 months of captivity Brittney Griner is FREE. This morning, Biden negotiated a one-for-one trade to free Brittney Griner in exchange for arms dealer, Viktor Bout.

We’re glad to see her release! How are you feeling about this?! Is this a fair trade?

PCBA was looking forward to the Board of Pardons reviewing cases that were submitted under their Ma*****na Pardon Project, which was a special 30-day-only program for people whose only crime was the possession of small amounts of ma*****na, with no other convictions ever in any state or the federal laws.

Unfortunately, that didn't happen today. Our statement.

PCBA was looking forward to the Board of Pardons reviewing cases that were submitted under their Ma*****na Pardon Project. That didn't happen.

DID YOU KNOW: There are no differences in the way or rate at which Black or white people consume, possess, distribute, or purchase cannabis?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So why are Black people FIVE TIMES more likely to be arrested for ma*****na? The answer clearly isn't because they use or possess it more. So what do you think?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For starters, the history of America is a huge contributor. Long-standing racism, over-policing of Black neighborhoods, the criminalization of Black people and their character enforced and indoctrinated via the media, & mass incarceration (especially the War on Drugs) are all valid reasons why this disparity persists even in decriminalized and legalized states.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
How do we stop something so deeply engrained in the fiber of our lives? We must dismantle and build anew. Systems that were built on slavery, it’s history, and the sentiments attached to it must be completely reimagined to start undoing the ideology attached with it. Collaborate with us as we demand ABOLITION through R.E.P.A.I.R.

In the spirit of Black Cannabis Week, we recognize Cherron Perry Thomas and this important quote “Cannabis has always been a plant and has always been medicinal. We need politicians to step up.” Participate in BCW () the 18th - 25 virtually and in person.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
City & State politicians are important to undoing the harms created by cannabis prohibition as they have the power to not only enact laws and resolutions for the entire city & state but also decide the budget ($$$) behind it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Changing something as simple as the language used to describe the plant: from drug to medicine, from illegal to legal we begin to undo. At some point, all of the punitive measures including arrests, incarceration, lasting fines and fees to the disruption of families, job loss, and the list goes on, were decisions your City & State politicians made.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s time for a change! The PCBA is committed to equitable POLICY and POLITICAL MOBILIZATION. We must have all hands on deck. We must organize, write policy recommendations, vote, run, and demand our politicians at all levels step up and end the war on drugs.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Join us as we craft POLICY and POLITICALLY MOBILIZE our community for R. E. P. A. I. R.
