"The Resilience of Planned Giving during a Global Pandemic and Economic Crisis" presented by Jordana Pearl Cohen, Executive Director, CCS Fundraising and Ian Swedish, Corporate Vice President, Analytics and Client Strategy, CCS Fundraising

Blended giving requests are an effective tool in a Campaign focused on Endowment fundraising. Through a case study of an Endowment Campaign that paused active fundraising during the Covid-19 pandemic, this presentation will discuss the important role of planned giving in driving a successful Endowment Campaign; the global health and economic crisis that caused the Campaign to pause; and the Campaign’s performance – including the durability of planned and blended gifts – half a year later.

assport to Philanthropy: 10/14/20, 1:00 pm

"Diversity and Philanthropy: Building a Diverse Talent Pipeline in Gift Planning" presented by Crystal Thompkins,CAP®,CSPG (she/her), National Director, Gift Planning Services, BNY Mellon Wealth Management and Dien Yuen, JD/LLM, CAP®, AEP®, Assistant Professor of Philanthropy at The American College of Financial Services.

The gift planning sector is grappling with the impact of new technology, new laws and regulations, changing donor expectations, and shifting organizational budgets. During these unsettling times, organizations need to attract and retain seasoned gift planning professionals, but also more diverse and hybrid types of talents – to bring in fresh ideas and approaches. By ensuring that the make-up of our board, staff, and volunteers reflect an increasingly diverse constituent and donor base, we can be more effective in our work. In this session, we will examine trends from donors of color, the current data on diversity in the fundraising profession, how you and your organization can promote diversity and inclusion, how to be a good ally in the gift planning sector, and reap the resulting benefits.

"New Results from 100 Years of National Data on Charitable Bequest Gifts"

Understanding how to be effective in legacy gift fundraising starts with reality. How are these gifts made? Who makes them and who doesn't? When do they get added or dropped? Who is your competition? Where does the money really come from? Who should I be talking to? When should I be talking with them? This presentation answers these question by reviewing the most pleasant, and the most painful, realities of charitable estate giving across 100 years of data.
