The Medical Society of Eastern Philadelphia is proud to announce the recipients of its 2026 McGruder-Knox Scholarship, awarding a total of $17,500 in unrestricted support to ten, second and third-year medical students working across diverse medical interests towards positive social change.

The McGruder-Knox Scholarship honors the legacy of Dr. Sandra McGruder and Dr. David Knox, former Medical Society of Eastern Pennsylvania presidents who dedicated their careers to supporting underrepresented physicians and advancing health equity in Philadelphia. Their commitment to the next generation lives on through this scholarship.

Selected from a competitive pool of applicants, the 2026 McGruder-Knox Scholar recipients represent a diverse cohort of exceptional medical students who are committed to serving underserved communities and pursuing health equity.

We created this program to help incoming medical residents feel supported as they transition into residency training in Philadelphia — financially, professionally, and in community.

Three reasons to apply to the 2026 MSEP Resident Support Program 👇🏾

Starting residency is exciting—but it can also be overwhelming, especially when you’re moving to a new city and entering a demanding new phase of training.

That’s why the Medical Society of Eastern Pennsylvania (MSEP) created our Resident Support Program: to help incoming Philadelphia medical residents who are underrepresented in medicine feel supported, connected, and in community from the very beginning.

💸 Receive $1,000 in financial support to help offset relocation and transition costs

Starting medical residency in a new city is a big transition—you don’t have to do it alone.

The Medical Society of Eastern Pennsylvania (MSEP) is proud to launch our Resident Support Program, designed to support incoming underrepresented residents as they begin their journey in Philadelphia.

✨ What we offer:

💸 $1,000 in financial support for 20 incoming medical residents who are members of SNMA

👩🏾‍⚕️ A built-in community of diverse physicians and peers

🫴🏽 Access to networking, mentorship, and resident-led programming

If you’re a graduating medical student who matched into a Philadelphia-area residency, we encourage you to apply!
