We were privileged to participate in the Elevate Liberia Pause and Reflect Learning Forum, hosted by the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Presidential Center for
Women and Development (EJS Center), Key takeaways from the forum's discussions were as follows:

Collaboration over competition: we win when we all reach the end of the ladder.

Capacity & Visibility: Investing in technical skills, governance and storytelling is essential for long-term sustainability.

Continuous Learning: Stronger local partnerships and long-term engagement are key to building resilient institutions.

BioGirl is a social enterprise by PADS for Girls Liberia, created to develop affordable, sustainable, and biodegradable menstrual products for girls and women in Liberia.

Why does BioGirl exist?
Because menstrual dignity shouldn’t depend on where you live or how much you can afford. BioGirl exists to make menstrual products more accessible while creating a more sustainable solution for our communities.

Meet our upcoming session facilitator, Ms. Nuniah Elsa Varpilah.
Ms. Nuniah Elsa Varpilah is a SRHR advocate and Program Officer at Help a Mother and Newborn Initiative (HMNI), a Liberia-based organization working to reduce maternal mortality and improve the wellbeing of adolescent mothers and young people.

Elsa has practical experience in sexual and reproductive health and rights education, menstrual hygiene management, peer education, and community mobilization. Through her work with HMNI, she supports adolescent girls and young mothers across Margibi County and other communities with health education, mentorship, and access to trusted information.

She is also a Medical Laboratory Science student at Mertu Institute of Health and Laboratory Sciences. Her background in health studies strengthens her work at the community level, where she connects health knowledge with real-life experiences.

Elsa believes every girl deserves dignity, accurate information, and the opportunity to make informed choices about her health and future. She continues to use her voice and service to support girls, young women, and communities.

Meet our Menstrual Health Session lead.

Precious C. Ngafua is a young advocate passionate about women and girls’ empowerment and the promotion of gender equality. She is committed to creating awareness and contributing to positive social change, especially on issues affecting women and young people.

She actively volunteers and collaborates with different organizations to build her leadership skills and gain experience in advocacy and community development. Through these engagements, she continues to strengthen her voice in advancing equality, education, and opportunities for girls and women.
