As families everywhere prepare for a new school year, we’re reminded that not every student is beginning with the same support and resources. 🩷

We are grateful to every sponsor, donor, and community partner who supported the Scott Family and The Great Give Back! Your generosity made a difference, but the work continues.

Our contribution was only one step. Kinsey still has four years ahead of her, and her financial gap is not completely closed. Through what is now known as the Sykea Patton Memorial Scholarship, SHE IS U will continue supporting deserving scholars like Kinsey who need a community behind them.

This Mother’s Day, we honor the mothers who silently endured abuse while still finding the strength to love and protect their children. 💗

We remember the mothers who lost their lives to domestic violence and intimate partner violence. We will continue to say their names and fight for change in their honor.

And to the children who witnessed the abuse, heard the pain, and carried trauma they never deserved, we see you too.

Today is for the Overcomers, the grieving families, the healing children, and every mother still fighting to find peace. You are not forgotten.

What happens when a child is labeled before they’re understood?

When kids act out, people are quick to call them “bad,” “difficult,” or “a problem.” But what if that behavior is actually trauma showing up with no safe place to go?

Words stick, especially at a young age.

If a child is constantly told they won’t amount to anything… eventually, they start to believe it. And that belief can follow them into adulthood, shaping their confidence, their choices, and their sense of self.

In this video, Shakina shares her own experience growing up and how those labels impacted her, and how many children are misunderstood instead of supported.

This is bigger than behavior.
It’s about what’s underneath it.

We don’t change outcomes by judging kids.
We change outcomes by understanding them.
