SOAR's 3rd "I CAN" Special Olympics Opens TOMORROW on International Children's Day!
https://www.soar-us.org/specialolympics/

SOAR’s “I Can” Special Olympics, held every four years since 2018, empowers participants with physical and intellectual disabilities by providing them opportunities to learn skills that transcend the playing field. Our athletes can hold jobs, go to school, and be active members in their communities.

Our hope is to give them the chance to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, become self-sufficient, and participate in community activities that foster inclusivity throughout Armenia.

International Children's Day, observed annually on June 1, is a global celebration dedicated to promoting the rights and well-being of children.

The day serves as a reminder of the progress made in protecting children's rights, while also highlighting the ongoing challenges they face.

It emphasizes that every child deserves an environment free from discrimination and exploitation.

In celebration of International Children’s Day, join us in making a meaningful difference—help keep our Special Olympics program thriving by making a donation today. Your support brings joy, opportunity, and inspiration to every athlete we serve!

Angelina suffered brain hypoxia during childbirth and could not walk on her own.

In 2022, SOAR held a campaign for Angelina to receive her SDR neurosurgical procedure.

Because Angelina's legs were spastic until the age of 7, her left leg developed poorly, so Angelina developed asymmetry of the legs.

This problem worsened after the SDR operation, which prevented Angelina from standing on her own.

The family learned that Angelina needed another operation, an SPML, to correct this.

SOAR held a 2nd campaign for Angelina, and on September 12, 2023, Angelina was able to have her life-altering procedure.

Angelina's family has now learned she needs a 3rd operation, as she has developed valgus flatfoot and needs a Grice procedure to correct this. Extensive rehabilitation will be necessary after the operation. Both the operation and rehabilitation will take place in Greece at a cost of $48,000.

SOAR is holding a 3rd medical emergency campaign for Angelina and we have raised $31,000.

A September surgery date has been secured, but Angelina urgently needs the remaining funds to move forward and receive this life-changing operation.

Please help us give Angelina a brighter future!

Today, we pause to honor Armenians whose lives were taken, and the countless families forever changed by loss, displacement, and survival.

This day carries a sacred responsibility: to remember the orphaned, the silenced, and the generations who carried pain with dignity and hope.

We remember not only what was lost, but what endured: faith, family, language, culture, and the unbreakable Armenian spirit.

May our remembrance be more than reflection. May it be a promise to preserve the truth, uplift our community, and continue serving with compassion in honor of those who came before us.

Never forgotten. Always remembered.

By the end of the First World War, more than 150,000 Armenian children were left parentless by the Ottoman Empire. The orphaned children who survived overcame significant challenges, but ultimately remained faithful to their religion and nationality.

SOAR continues to support the families of our fallen and severely injured soldiers and prisoners of war and displaced Artsakh families.

During this time of remembrance, consider making a donation to our Families of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund (FFSRF) to ensure that no children of fallen Armenian soldiers are ever institutionalized, https://www.soar-us.org/ffsrf/
or to our Artsakh Family Integration Fund (AFIF) https://www.soar-us.org/afrf/
to help the families forcibly displaced from their homes in the fall of 2023.

The premier of “A Suitcase to Home”, a documentary feature that won the Deauville Green Award.

The film takes us through the struggles and persecutions of the Armenian people, focusing on the most recent events of the 44-day Artsakh War, the blockade of the Lachin Corridor, and the forced displacement of more than 120,000 Armenians from Artsakh in September of 2023.

The film showcases the strength and resilience of the Armenian people throughout these adversities and brings hope that they will one day return to their beloved Artsakh and continue to thrive and prosper.

Produced by the Society for Orphaned Armenian Relief (SOAR) and Andrew Simonian.
