New Name, Same Garden! 🌸

We're so incredibly excited to introduce the new name for the community garden: The Wild Botanical Garden!

Join us for a celebration in the space on Saturday, September 26th from 12-3 PM! We'll have food, activities, and lots of community providers with neighborhood resources.

To all who helped us pick a new name and submitted various options, we appreciate your help in shaping the garden's ongoing transformation. As always, all we steward is for the community, perpetually, and green spaces are no exception! We are proud that the garden can remain in residents' hands, always. 🌿

Black Possibilities: Northeast is coming - a mini regional assembly building continuity between the national Assembly of Black Possibilities. This inaugural gathering convenes peers and practitioners working across the Northeast Corridor, from Boston to D.C.

This year's theme, Seed Time Now, draws from W.E.B. Du Bois's Prayers for Dark People and The Guild Atlanta's planting framework. What have our ancestors already planted that we're called to tend? What are we sowing for the next seven generations?

Organized by Boston Ujima Project, Kensington Corridor Trust, and the Solidarity Economy Research, Policy & Law Project at UIC.

We couldn’t help ourselves and had to jump on this trend 🤭 but we said what we said.

We’ve got a few short weeks to close on one of the largest community ownership projects we’ve ever taken on, and it’d be kinda chic if you supported us in this final fundraising push? 👀

We’re working to acquire J Centrel, a former textile mill on Kensington Avenue, and turn it into something the whole neighborhood owns together.

It is an exciting time at the Kensington Corridor Trust and for the Avenue! 🎉

We are thrilled to announce that we were recently awarded a $1,500,000 grant through Pennsylvania's Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) to renovate 3360-70 Kensington Avenue. The work includes ground-floor commercial spaces paired with affordable upper-floor residential rentals and ADA-accessible units. This will activate a large portion of the block upon completion and, most importantly, keep it in the community's hands.

We want to extend our gratitude to Senator Tina Tartaglione's and Rep. Jose Giral's offices for their support throughout this process, and are looking forward to what's to come!
