Hi! 👋 if you don’t know us, we’re Sonalee (PhD Clincial Psychology, visual artist, writer) and Rupal (mother, cofounder of and lawyer) and we’re the cohosts of the 🎙️ (produced by ) where we talk about our mental health journeys, the ups how we got through the lows ❤️‍🩹 and explain the science that shows why healing matters for our well-being.

We are SO excited to moderate this year’s panel at the Healing through Art Summit ❤️‍🩹. We’ll be talking with the panelists, who are also being awarded 🏆with the annual education, art and community building awards. The theme of this year’s panel is Dreaming in Uncertain Times 💭🌙.

We’ll be talking about what it means to dream in the current macro environment 🌍 why it’s so important to keep dreaming 💪🏽, and how we can assign dreams with a variety of meanings (small joys in our everyday life, life purpose, acts of resistance).

This year’s honorees include Aruna Rao (Community Building), founder of Desi Rainbow and a longtime LGBTQIA+ and mental health advocate; Dr. Ammara Khalid (Education), a clinical psychologist and founder of RIA Psychological Services focused on intergenerational healing; and Prashant Verma (Umreeki) (Art), a pioneering hip-hop artist known for cinematic storytelling who will also headline the Gala.

Join us for a full day experience ✨ the Summit (morning/afternoon) features interactive workshops, community conversations, and a curated South Asian art + vendor space, followed by our evening Gala — a celebration of art, storytelling, and community with a keynote, performances, and dance floor 🎉

✨ Introducing our Cocktail Hour Artist: Shivani Mohini!

We’re so excited to welcome Shivani Mohini as our live musician for the Gala cocktail hour 🎶
Blending Bollywood, ghazal, semi-classical, and folk influences, Shivani’s sound brings a sense of warmth, nostalgia, and soul to the evening- the perfect way to open a night centered around connection, reflection, and celebration.

You can also catch Shivani earlier in the day at our Summit, where she’ll be joining us as a vendor in the Art Expo - a beautiful full-circle moment of art, community, and storytelling!

Our annual Gala is an elegant, black-tie evening bringing together community leaders, artists, and changemakers for a night of live performances, open bar, dinner, and meaningful conversation — all in support of SAAFC’s mission to break mental health stigma through art, education, and community.
❣️💃🏽
