✨ Applications close July 7
✨ Interviews will take place by the end of July
✨ Onboarding begins in August

These are specialized volunteer roles, so we’re especially excited to hear from people who are genuinely interested in contributing their skills and experience!

There’s something powerful about discovering that a feeling you thought was yours alone is shared by others. ❤️

Last week, SAAFC partnered with the for Stories Between Us: Creativity, Identity, and Belonging, an evening inspired by Our Missing Hearts by Celeste Ng.

Together, we reflected on themes of identity, belonging, family, and community through discussion and a collaborative art activity. Inspired by the book’s themes of censorship and missing stories, participants filled the empty spaces on a collective bookshelf with moments when they felt belonging, felt othered, or wished their story had been heard.

As participants shared the stories, reflections, and artwork behind their hearts, the room filled with moments of recognition, connection, and empathy. What began as individual experiences became a collective reminder that many of us carry similar hopes, struggles, and experiences, even when our journeys look different.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to and for creating and facilitating such a thoughtful experience ✨

✨THIRD SPACE - SAAFC’s Peer Discussion Circles✨

A space to slow down, show up as you are, and feel held in community. Third Space is where we step outside our roles and into honest conversation, reflection and connection.

June circle: Coping with Cancer

This month, we’re gathering to discuss the emotional and mental impact of cancer on individuals, caregivers and loved ones. We will reflect on coping in a culturally understanding space, and explore the barriers we face as South Asians when seeking support.

🗓️ June 9 | ️ ⏰ 7:30 PM EST | 📍Zoom (link in bio)

🗣️ Facilitators: Nithya Cherukuru MD (Psychiatrist, and SAAFC Vice President) and Elby Katumkeeryil (Mental Health Therapist & Consultant, and SAAFC Education Volunteer)

Come for grounding conversations, shared stories, and a community that understands your journey 🧡

⚠️ Not therapy - just a supportive space to connect, reflect and belong

What stories do we carry with us? ❤️📚

Join for Stories Between Us: Creativity, Identity, and Belonging an interactive evening of storytelling, reflection, and collaborative art inspired by Our Missing Hearts by Celeste Ng.

Facilitated by Sukanya (SAAFC Special Events) & Nidhi (SAAFC Education Team, mental health professional), this workshop will explore identity, family, belonging, and mental health through conversation and creativity, including a collective community art piece made from shared reflections, poems, drawings, and stories.

Participants can expect a discussion around a selected passage from the book, followed by an interactive creative exercise and group reflection ✨

At SAAFC, art and storytelling are one of the biggest ways we create connection and break mental health stigma in our community. Stories remind us we’re not alone.

No art experience needed, just come as you are. Register at the link in bio. First 25 registrants receive a free copy of the book!

A glimpse into what community, creativity, and healing truly look like 💫

This reel captures just a fraction of the magic from our Healing Through Art Summit & Gala — and none of it would have been possible without our incredible sponsors.

Your support didn’t just fund an event… it helped create a space where stories were shared, connections were built, and healing began. 🤍

To our sponsors — thank you for standing with us and believing in this mission.

✨ Here’s to continuing to uplift, empower, and heal together.
