Get your teen ready to start babysitting this summer.

I’m opening a small group for a Babysitting Certification Workshop (ages 12–14) and I’m really excited about this one.

I started babysitting when I was 13, and over the years I’ve also trained my own girls as they began babysitting. It’s been fun to watch them grow in confidence and be naturally referred to other families because they do such a great job.

This will be a hands-on, small-group training where students will learn:

✔ how to handle real-life babysitting situations
✔ safety and responsibility
✔ what to do when kids don’t listen (yes… we’ll practice this)
✔ basic care skills
✔ how to actually get babysitting jobs

They’ll also create their own babysitting kit and leave with a plan to get started.

Upon completion, students will receive a certificate of completion and a take-home babysitting kit.

⏰ 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
📍 Southwest Williamson County Regional Park (covered pavilion – playscape area)
👥 Limited to 10 students

💲 Pricing:

• Babysitting Certification: $100
• Advanced Babysitting Business Workshop: $100
• Bundle (Certification + Advanced Workshop): $175

📅 Advanced Workshop: Friday, May 1 (10:00 AM – 2:00 PM)
📍 Location to be finalized
(Open to teens ages 15–18 or students ages 12–14 who complete the certification workshop)

🥪 Students should bring:
• water bottle
• snack
• packed lunch

This will be the only workshop offered before summer, with the next opportunity not until July.

Unpopular Opinion
(homeschool mom edition)

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately as both a mom and a teacher…

Homeschooling isn’t about sheltering your kids.

It’s about preparing them.

I don’t want my kids protected from everything forever…
I want them trained to walk into the world and actually recognize what’s true and what’s not.

That means:
– Having real conversations (even when it’s uncomfortable)
– Letting them see things in small, age-appropriate ways
– Teaching them how to think… not just what to think

Because one day… they’re not going to be under my roof.

And if all I did was protect them—but never prepared them?

That’s a problem.

So no… this isn’t about hiding our kids.

It’s about equipping them.
