We have two fantastic classes with some spots still remaining.

Millinery for Beginners - Make a Top Hat! Starts Thurs June 4

Long associated with elegance and sophistication, top hats have been the classic headgear of choice from Regency dandies to Fred Astaire. Instantly recognizable, a top hat elevates any outfit. Join Jazmine to learn how to make your very own custom creation, using both historic millinery methods and some modern short cuts. You can bring your own fabric to finish off your hat, or choose from what MAXT has in stock. Whether you’re creating a costume for Honest Abe, Mr Darcy, or just want to feel dapper everyday, learning to create this iconic hat is achievable with basic hand sewing skills and a little patience.

Paint Your House with Liz Knight starts Thurs June 4 too, a great 2 week class.

Leave the rollers and cans at home, but bring a photo of house for this fun 2 part session of sketching and watercolor with Liz Knight. Learn her method for capturing a whimsical portrait of buildings, great for new students or as a follow on from her wonderful Travel Sketchbook or Freeform Watercolor classes.

We'll be working in pencil, ink pen and watercolor. Materials are provided but please feel free to bring your own preferred materials.

Summer is so close... but we've still managed to squeeze in one more after school program before the end of the year!

Mini Makers and Junior Creatives can join us for Groovy Machines.

We'll create our very own hand cranked automata following our own imaginations. From a fruit jazz band to a dancing troop of pandas or a rocking pirate ship. It's up to you!

We'll build our machines with simple cigar boxes, wooden cams and axels, and rubber band bushings. Along the way we'll learn about how machines move and change motion from one type to another.

A great new collaboration is coming to MAXT this summer! We have partnered with The League of NH Craftsmen to be able to offer our first Summer Masters Series. This is a kick off to a new relationship with the League in hosting their juried members - all experts in their chosen media - to share their skills in publicly accessible classes.

The Summer Masters Series are 3 hour make and take style classes, including materials with tickets at just $85 ($75 for MAXT Members)

Pencil Block for artists and makers with Paul Tuller is a great way to learn some new skills in the woodshop. How to cut circular pieces accurately on our bandsaw and use a tilting table on the drill press. Create a super serious sketching pencil block of a goofy pencil head character! Last call to join us tonight for our 6 week beginner jewelry class with Rebecca Richards!

Over 6 weeks students will create a variety of jewelry pieces from a bangle to a locket, pendant with set stone and a small box.

This is a course designed to lead you through some fundamental skills to enhance your jewelry practice and begin creating pieces independently. Students will be given some freedom to add their own design elements and ideas to their class pieces.

The class will cover: piercing, sawing, drilling, texturing, riveting, soldering, bezel setting, polishing, hollow construction and basic patina.

It's a tough choice for your Wednesday night 5/13:

Single session Quick Intro to Drypoint Printmaking (6-8p) with Tracie Pouliot is sure to be a fun one. Perfect for those who want to try out playing with our etching press but don't know where to begin. Tracie will teach students how to create fast, atmospheric sketch like printing plates on soft metal sheets. Then guide you through how to ink, print and dry your new artwork.
