Our next meeting is Friday, May 29 at 4 PM at Angel’s Ice Cream in Downtown Petaluma. Come enjoy some ice cream and spend time with our amazing youth environmental activists! We’ll be making posters, connecting with friends, and discussing a variety of environmental topics and ways to make a difference in our community.

Our next meeting is Friday, April 24 at 4PM. Please message us for the address. We will have a climate scientist joining us to share her work measuring polar ice caps. She is also a geologist and can help identify any rocks you bring, so feel free to bring your favorite!

We will also be swimming and enjoying ice cream sundaes. Come hang out with us!

We’ll have a guest speaker from Credo High sharing how students are making a difference for the environment. Bring a friend, grab some ice cream, and join us!

This day reminds us that protecting the environment is also about protecting our future. The Sonoma County Youth Environmental Action Committee had a wonderful field trip on Friday to the home of retired Cherry Valley teacher Sharon Dato! She warmly welcomed us and taught us all about monarch butterflies. Afterward, we enjoyed a walk through her beautiful, pollinator-friendly butterfly garden. Sharon generously gave the kids books about butterflies and milkweed seeds to take home. It was such a special afternoon!

We had a wonderful meeting last month with the Mayor of Petaluma here in Sonoma County. At the meeting, we discussed biking from both an environmental and public safety perspective, including the benefits of biking, maintenance of bike lanes, habitat protection, and ways to keep riders safe. The next meeting of the Sonoma County Youth Environmental Action Committee is this Friday, April 4, at 4pm at Angela’s Ice Cream in downtown Petaluma. We will be meeting with Petaluma Mayor Kevin McDonnell to discuss biking in Petaluma. Please come with your questions for him!

We will also discuss the best ways to distribute milkweed in Sonoma County. Come join us!
