💙 Some traditions are definitely worth keeping.

What a day at Peosta Days!

For the second year, Live Like Cam participated in the Peosta Days Parade continuing a tradition Cam had been part of for years.

This year’s theme was Back to the 90s, and our crew definitely went ALL IN. 😂

From Blockbuster and MTV to Pac-Man, giant cell phones, boomboxes and more neon than anyone probably needed, it was so much fun watching all of our crazy ideas come together.

But behind the finished float was something even better…

People showing up. 💙

There were endless volunteer hours spent painting, cutting, building, taping, stuffing bags, making decorations, preparing handouts and bringing this float to life.

A special thank you to Nolan for building our trailer and helping turn all of those ideas into something we could actually take down the parade route.

And thank you to every volunteer…adults AND kids….who gave their time to help us get it done. Live Like Cam continues to be what it is because people continue to show up. 💙

If you swipe through the pictures, you’ll also find a couple from years ago, long before Live Like Cam ever existed, when Cam was the kid riding through Peosta on these floats himself.

Whether it was a Cub Scout float or the neighborhood float, Cam looked forward to participating in Peosta Days and rarely missed a year.

None of us could have imagined back then that one day we would be building a float carrying his name.

This year, some of those same neighbors were there again, joined by family, friends and another generation of kids only now, we were doing it in Cam’s memory. 💙

We threw candy, 90s slap bracelets, Live Like Cam bracelets and even a few koozies. We laughed, made memories and loved seeing so many familiar faces waving and cheering along the route.

And to top off an already pretty special day, we were surprised to learn that our Live Like Cam float received 1st place! 🥇💙

But what we’ll remember most isn’t the placing.

It’s seeing people continue to show up.

It’s watching another generation of kids make memories together.

It’s keeping the things Cam loved going.

And it’s having another opportunity to share his name, his story and the life behind Live Like Cam.

Some traditions change.
Some traditions continue.
And some become part of a legacy. 💙

Not built around one mission.
Built around a life.

Thank you, Peosta, for another incredible Peosta Days and thank you to everyone who helped make this tradition possible.

💙 Some traditions are worth keeping.

Growing up, Peosta Days was something Cam looked forward to every year.

Whether he was riding on a Cub Scout float or piling onto the neighborhood float with friends and neighbors, he never wanted to miss it. Year after year, it was just one of those traditions he loved.

Tomorrow, for the second year, Live Like Cam will be part of the Peosta Days Parade and what makes it even more special is that some of the same neighbors who shared those parade days with Cam will be riding alongside us again. 💙

Only now, we’re riding in his memory.

This year’s theme is BACK TO THE 90s, so we’re having a little fun with it! 📼✌️😎

For us, it’s another chance to get together, keep a tradition Cam loved going, be part of our community, and make new memories while remembering so many of the old ones

It’s about getting together.

Of course, we’ll have plenty to toss along the parade route too!

💙 Two Years. One Legacy.

Another piece of Cam’s life being passed on to the next generation. 💙

Live Like Cam was proud to support the Potosi Trap Team this year!

Cam loved hunting, shooting and being outdoors, so supporting youth programs that give kids the opportunity to learn these skills, be part of a team and make memories together is something that means a lot to us.

When we created Live Like Cam, we knew we wanted to help give kids opportunities to experience some of the same things Cam loved throughout his life.

That’s why sponsorships like this are about so much more than putting our name on a team.

It’s about encouraging kids to try something new.

Building confidence.

Learning responsibility and sportsmanship.

Being part of a team.

And making the kind of memories they’ll carry with them long after the season ends. 💙

💙🏁 TONIGHT! 🏁💙

The 2nd Annual Live Like Cam Pit Bike Challenge is tonight at the Grant County Fair! 🏍️

This week is always a heavy one for our family, but tonight we get to keep a tradition going that feels so much like Cam. 💙

Cam lived for the Grant County Fair and loved being part of the pit bike races. There’s something pretty special about getting to come back here each year, say his name, and keep him a part of something he loved so much.

And we have a little preview of this year’s Pit Bike Challenge shirts! 👀 Last year we did navy frost, and this year we switched it up with black. Even more special….the helmet featured on the back is Cam’s actual helmet that he wore. 💙🏁

🏆 Live Like Cam is also adding merchandise credits for tonight’s winners:

Two years ago today, Cameron Ambrose Schaefer was officially declared gone.

He was 22 years old.

But August 20 wasn’t the end of Cam’s story.

In so many ways, it was the beginning of a legacy none of us ever imagined we would be carrying.

Cam lived big. He loved his family and friends, the outdoors, motorcycles, hunting, fishing, his dogs and simply having a good time. He worked hard, helped others and had a way of leaving an impression everywhere he went.

He was truly one of a kind. 💙

Today, pieces of Cam are still living. His gifts through organ donation gave others more time, more memories and more life.

And his name continues to live through every scholarship awarded, every kid given an opportunity, every life touched, every conversation about organ donation, every reminder to look twice and every act of kindness done in his memory.

Live Like Cam exists because his life mattered.

We would give anything to have him here instead.

But since we can’t, we will continue saying his name, telling his story and doing everything we can to make something good come from an unimaginable loss.

Cam was here for 22 years.

His impact will last far beyond them. 💙

We’re so grateful to continue supporting Peosta Days through Live Like Cam. 💙

This community has shown our family and our nonprofit so much love and support, and being able to give back to the community Cam grew up in means so much to us.

Peosta Days was something Cam looked forward to every year. From riding on our neighborhood float when he was little to Cub Scouts and so many memories in between, it was simply part of growing up here. 💙

We’re proud to keep Cam’s memory and legacy woven into a community that was such a big part of his life.

Two years ago today, everything changed. 💙

August 18, 2024 is a date that will forever be a part of Cam’s story, but it will never be what defines him.

Cam was so much more than the way we lost him.

He was a son and brother. A loyal friend. A hardworker. An outdoorsman. A dog lover. He loved motorcycles, hunting, fishing, golfing and spending time with the people he loved. He worked hard, lived big and left an impact on people that we are still discovering today.

Live Like Cam was created to make sure that is the story that continues to be told.

Two years later, Cam’s impact continues to grow. And in just our first year as Live Like Cam, his name has opened doors for kids, created opportunities in the outdoors, supported trades education and scholarships, helped our communities, promoted motorcycle and driver safety, raised awareness for organ donation and inspired people to simply do a little more good.

We would trade every bit of it to have Cam back.

But because we can’t, we will keep saying his name.
We will keep sharing his story.
We will keep helping others.
And we will keep building something good from a life that meant so much.

Thank you to every person who remembered Cam today, reached out to our family, shared a memory, supported Live Like Cam or simply said his name.

Two years later, he is still changing lives.

That’s his legacy. 💙

We need your opinion! 🧡🏍️

This was one of the very first Live Like Cam logos we created, and it has become such a recognizable part of what we do.

But we’ve been thinking about making one meaningful change…

What if we switched the motorcycle in the original logo to a Harley that looks more like Cam’s actual bike?

The first photo is our original logo and the second is the updated version.

We love that the original has been with us from the beginning, but there’s something pretty special about making it a little more Cam. 💙 A huge thank you to Alaytra for making our vision come to life🧡
