These red sneakers help spark an important conversation about food allergy awareness and the steps we can all take to help prevent allergic reactions.

International Red Sneakers Day is observed each year on May 20 in honor of Oakley Debbs, an 11-year-old boy who tragically passed away from a nut allergy. His legacy continues to raise awareness and remind families, schools, and communities how serious food allergies can be.

Today, we’re wearing red for International Red Sneakers Day. 👟❤️

Tonight Light It Up - The Murray Baker Bridge in City of Peoria Illinois - Government Will be Lit Up Red!

Red sneakers are more than a symbol. They are a reminder that food allergies are serious, often invisible, and deserving of awareness, preparation, and care.

This day honors Oakley Debbs and the mission of Red Sneakers for Oakley: educating communities about food allergies and anaphylaxis so more families, schools, workplaces, and teams know how to respond.

We believe inclusion includes the everyday details: reading labels, asking thoughtful questions, respecting allergy needs, and creating environments where people feel safe speaking up.

A small step can start an important conversation.

Wear red. Share awareness. Support the people around you who live with food allergies.
