Annual Fort Pickens Land & Water Cleanup 🌊

What an amazing event we had yesterday! 3rd Coast Divers, Ocean Hour, and Gulf Islands National Seashore teamed up to clean both under the pier and around the fort.

The amount of fishing line, weights, poles, netting, etc. that was pulled out of the water was astonishing. Hundreds of crabs and critters were freed of entanglement. This is always a really eye opening experience.

The weight totals:
Divers collected 387 lbs
Land volunteers collected 481 lbs

Huge thank you to everybody who collaborated on this event and to every volunteer that came out to give back to their community ❤️. We can't wait to do this again next year!

Ocean Hour regular volunteer Andy Lynn always tackles the big stuff. Washed up Pilings, tires, chunks of concrete are gonna get wrangled and removed by Andy. Today’s “biggie” find took three people to deliver it to the dumpster. Thanks for making the shoreline a little cleaner and a lot safer.
