Protect Our Water, Heritage, Rights Coalition is an environmental justice coalition leading the fight against the Mountain Valley Pipeline project and protecting communities from environmental injustice along the pipeline route. Protect Our Water, Heritage, Rights (POWHR) is an interstate coalition representing individuals and groups from Virginia and West Virginia dedicated to protecting water, l

and, and communities from harms caused by the expansion of fossil fuel infrastructure, including the Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP). POWHR members and organizations are part of a growing grassroots movement to stop fossil fuel expansion in Appalachia, including the MVP, and to kickstart the transition to a just and renewable future. We integrate the broader context of this pipeline fight into all our work, as part of a united fight to stop all new fossil fuel projects in the United States, combat environmental injustice, and meaningfully address the climate crisis.

Q: Share your favorite hobby with us
A: Running. It's a great way for me to stay connected with nature and clear my mind.

Q: What's your favorite season and why?
A: Fall. I love the colorful leaves, cooler temperatures, and exploring the changing forests.

Q: Why do you fight for the environment?
A: I fight for the environment because everyone deserves clean water, clean air, and a healthy place to live—yet the communities most harmed by environmental and climate change have contributed the least to causing it. As an ecologist, advocate, and someone who loves spending time outdoors, I’ve seen how deeply our lives are tied to healthy ecosystems. Protecting the environment means standing up for people, nature, and future generations, and ensuring everyone has a voice in shaping solutions.

"When the county utility investigated, officials discovered two industrial-scale water hookups feeding a data center campus located 20 miles south of downtown Atlanta. One water connection had been installed without the utility’s knowledge, and the other was not linked to the company’s account and therefore wasn’t being billed."

Residents in Fayetteville, Georgia, noticed low water pressure last year. The utility discovered two unaccounted-for water connections at one of the nation’s largest data center campuses.

MVP Boost seeks to increase the volume of methane deliveries on the Mountain Valley Pipeline by 33%. Which will then be burned, adding more carbon into the atmosphere, accelerating climate change, and creating more of the extreme drought conditions we find ourselves in right now. Enough is enough.

Methane emissions from fossil fuels stayed near record highs in 2025, with no sign of decline despite proven, low-cost ways to reduce them, the International

“Unfortunately, MVP is being allowed to move forward with construction while our clients’ challenges to the pipeline’s Virginia and North Carolina water permits are heard, risking real harm to Virginia and North Carolina waters and wetlands. It will have real consequences for landowners and communities along the Southgate route, disrupting their way of life, affecting streams and rivers that people know and depend on, and harming the environment, and the aquatic life that inhabits those waterways.”

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit denied motions for stay, pending judicial review, of both the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality’s (VDEQ) and the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s (NCDEQ) Clean Water Act Section 401 Certific...

POWHR is partnering with Radford University to create the MVP Archive. This will be a physical and digital collection of documents, photos, artifacts and mementos from people that have been a part of the fight to stop the Mountain Valley Pipeline. This collection will share stories of what it was like to be a part of this movement. For over 10 years activists, landowners and community members have been fighting for justice. We have watched land get stolen and destroyed. We have witnessed waterways being polluted and trees being cut down. The impact of the Mountain Valley Pipeline has been devastating and it is important that we uplift our resilient communities, what they have been through and their courageous strength throughout this collection.

Come on out for our first Collection Day on Sunday May 17th from 2PM-6PM. Bring your favorite MVP memories, photos, merch, mementos and a potluck dish! We will have an on site scanner and photographer to document your artifacts.

If you're not able to make it, email us your artifacts at [email protected]
