Today was a big day at IUOE Local 487! 💪🏗️ We had TWO deliveries of new equipment arrive at the training center!

🆕 Bobcat S770 Skid-Steer Loader — ready to put to work and give our apprentices even more hands-on training opportunities.

🆕 Chevy 3500 Service Truck — headed straight to our Mechanics Program to help our mechanic apprentices build valuable real-world skills in the field and in the shop. 🔧🚛

We’re proud to continue investing in our equipment, our training center, and most importantly, the next generation of Operating Engineers and mechanics! 👷‍♂️💪

Yesterday, we had the honor of presenting the IUOE Local 487 Apprenticeship & Training Program at the Broward County Trades Meeting, hosted by Senator Steve Geller.

It was a great opportunity to share how our apprenticeship program is preparing the next generation of skilled Operating Engineers through hands-on training, classroom instruction, and real-world experience. 👷‍♂️🚜🏗️

We sincerely appreciate the opportunity to speak about our program and connect with community leaders and industry partners who are committed to strengthening the skilled trades workforce.

It was a great pleasure to join apprenticeship director Mike Smith today in the Chambers of the Broward County Commission to highlight our robust apprenticeship program.

Each quarter, commissioner Steve Geller hosts discussions bringing together the business community and those of us in the Building Trades.

Today, the Local 487 apprenticeship program was featured. We are incredibly proud of the hard work Mike and his team at the training center have done to make Local 487 so successful.

Today, we celebrate the birth of our nation and honor the freedoms we enjoy because of the sacrifices made by so many.

As Operating Engineers, we take pride in building and maintaining the infrastructure that keeps America moving. We are proud to stand together as brothers and sisters in a union built on hard work, skill, and solidarity.

Another Busy Saturday at IUOE Local 487 Apprenticeship & Training!

Today was packed with learning and hands-on experience as our apprentices continued building the skills needed to become the next generation of operating engineers.

🔹 Trenching & Excavation Safety Class
🔹 Confined Space Training
🔹 Mechanics getting time under the hood and sharpening their welding skills
🔹 Rigging practicals with hands-on demonstrations
🔹 Plenty of seat time and equipment training on various pieces of heavy equipment

Every Saturday is another opportunity to learn, grow, and gain the experience that makes our members the best in the industry.

🎓 Congratulations to Our 2nd Pre-Apprenticeship Cohort Graduates! 🎓

Today, we proudly celebrate the graduates of our 2nd Pre-Apprenticeship Cohort. These individuals made the commitment, put in the hard work, and successfully completed our 6-month program, taking the first step toward a rewarding career as an Operating Engineer.

Their dedication, perseverance, and willingness to learn have laid the foundation for a bright future in the trades. We are proud of everything they have accomplished and look forward to watching them continue their journey through the apprenticeship program and beyond.

A special thank you to DEWALT for coming out and supporting our program. We greatly appreciate their generosity in donating tools and tool bags to each graduate. Their support helps equip these future Operating Engineers with the tools they need as they begin their careers in the trades.
