OCDS: Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites Following in the way of St. Teresa of Avila & St. Peabody, MA. The St. The emphasis is on 1. Vocation, 2. Living in the World, 3. Our 3 Principle Obligations:
1.

John of the Cross, Secular Carmelites make their lives as grace-filled & fruitful as possible in fidelity to the Catholic Church, as witnesses, messengers, and examples of the Carmelite Order. Teresa of Jesus of the Andes Secular Carmelite Community (OCDS) meets the Second Saturday of each month (8AM to Noon) in Peabody, MA at Our Lady of Fatima Parish. The Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites (O

CDS) is an association of lay people who embrace a calling to strive for Christian perfection in the world according to the spirit and ideals of the Order of Discalced Carmelites. Following the spirit of Carmel, which is striving for close union with Christ through interior prayer. The Secular Carmelite lives a life which is both apostolic and contemplative. The ideals which the Secular Order members strive to achieve, under the protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary, are: a deep sense of God's love, fidelity to contemplative prayer, a spirit of detachment, and apostolic generosity in fraternal charity. To recite the Divine Office: Morning & Evening Prayer and Night Prayer if possible.
2. To spend at least 30 minutes each day in silent mental prayer.
3. To wear the brown Scapular of Carmel, the habit of the order, as a sign of dedication to Our Lady of Mount Carmel and the Carmelite Order. Secular Carmelites are also urged, as far as possible, to assist at daily Mass; to have a special devotion to Mary; to undertake spiritual reading, especially the Bible and the Carmelite writings on a regular basis; to practice fraternal charity and to participate in our Community's apostolate. (Praying for Seminarians in the Archdiocese of Boston). An important requirement is faithful attendance at the monthly community meeting, where one's vocation is nourished through study of the Teresian tradition of the Order.

On May 2, 2026, Deacon Joseph Jasinski, was ordained to the transitional diaconate in a Mass celebrated by Archbishop Richard G. Henning at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross.

Honoring our Community Apostolate, Sharon Keefe, OCDS has been faithfully praying daily for Deacon Joe throughout his training and formation at St. John’s Seminary in Brighton, MA. It was a great honor and joy for Sharon to attend his ordination!

“Summer” by Constance Servizio, OCDS

Longing for Summer’s weather pattern.
Embracing us with sunshine, warmth, and rain.
Enticing nature to bring forth.
Colorful florals through her rebirth.

Blooming from gourmet garden seeds.
Delicacies upon which to feed.
Thankful for our land of good and plenty.
Where no native or refugee should go hungry.
Above birds are chanting in glee.
As squirrels are entertaining me.
Summer, a time to be out and about.
Swimming, surfing, enjoying gourmet cook-outs.

Refreshed, and renewed, are our minds, souls, and bodies.
By summer intermission from the harsh winter breeze.
Sharing with friends the great outdoors,
Upon us soon to close her door.

Soon leaves are changed into multi-colored hues.
Which summons many a traveler.
To view this divine spectacle.
As the red carpet welcomes Fall’s debut.

💔Consecration of the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus 💔 (June 11th, 2026)

O Most Sacred Heart of Jesus:
You know the longings of our hearts,
and you desire that we enjoy friendship with you.

From your pierced side,
you have poured out the wellspring of
life, for which we thirst.
Your heart burns with a love for all people to return to a right
relationship with you.

We celebrate the abundant gifts you have given this nation,
founded on the self-evident truths
that our Creator has endowed all people
with the right to life, liberty,
and the pursuit of happiness.

We make reparation for the offenses against you
and against human dignity
that have taken place in this nation.

May our hearts be united to yours,
so that our families and communities
enjoy peace and happiness;
may broken relationships be reconciled,
injustices repaired,
and the wounds of our land be healed.

May your holy Catholic Church serve as a sign,
pointing all people to your infinite love.

O Desire of Nations and Center of History,
we ask you to bless these United States of America.
Who live and reign with God the Father
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever.

Amen.

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.
