85 students participated in a hygiene presentation held at the Full Service Health Center at School 5 (PPS) in partnership with NJCDC Public health.

Providing students with valuable information and resources to support their health and well-being, the session focused on personal hygiene, healthy habits, and self-care practices.

25 students at Paterson School 5  received dental cleanings on May 19 and learned the importance of daily brushing and flossing. Treatment Coordinator, Aysha Shammi, said the FSCS services are aimed at promoting good oral health by providing preventive dental care.

Health Educator Angie Tamayo Leon discussed hygiene and puberty with 6th, 7th, and 8th graders at The New Roberto Clemente School on May 27.  

Mrs. Leon is the Teen LINKS Coordinator at Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan New Jersey in Newark. Students joined the discussion during their lunch periods.

Students at Alonzo "Tambua" Moody Academy learned about the effects of smoking ci******es and ma*****na at a “Lungs for Life” presentation given by Barbara McGoey, RN, on May 26. Students attended the important program during their lunch block periods.

Principal Sham Bacchus joined students in getting airbrush tattoos during Report Card Night at The New Roberto Clemente School on April 23.
Students had a fun time picking tattoos, while enjoying the night with their parents and watching Principal Bacchus get  a “pirate” airbrush tattoo in honor of the school’s logo. 

The fun tattoo event was a great way to have parents and students stop at the FSCS table in order to get important health center information!

19 students at The New Roberto Clemente School received optical care examinations on May 8 during a Main Street Optical visit. 

According to Treatment Coordinator, Diana Claudio, students at NRC continue to receive optical care, pointing out that 10 students received glasses in April.

Students at International HS enjoyed some healthy snacks on Dec. 9 at a workshop geared toward teaching them how to REPLACE some of their unhealthy snacks with healthy alternatives.
