Thanks to our chapter and community members, we were able to send 705 holiday cards to active-duty troops this year! 💌📫

The cards were shipped to the Holiday Card Challenge, which sends them to bases around the world. This incredible program has sent more than 1.5 million cards to service members over the past two decades.

This effort came together because of our dedicated chapter members, local businesses and youth organizations, and our wonderful community. Cards were collected throughout the year from chapter members and at community events including Honor Flight Long Island, Tri-Hamlet 250 kickoff celebration, the Greater Patchogue Historical Society’s fall festival, and the Town of Brookhaven Country Fair. Each card carries a personal message of thanks and support for our military heroes.

Together, we’re sending joy, love, and and holiday cheer to those who protect our nation. ❤️🤍💙🇺🇸

Yesterday we had the wonderful opportunity to attend a genealogy workshop at Raynham Hall, graciously hosted by the Oyster Bay DAR Chapter. The presentation by Janice Cross Gilyard was absolutely fabulous—heart-warming, inspiring, and incredibly educational.

Janice reminded us that our ancestors are more than names and dates; they are stories, lives, and legacies that deserve to be discovered and preserved. Her passion and insight gave us new tools and deeper motivation to continue documenting the history of those who came before us.

A heartfelt thank you to the Oyster Bay Chapter for inviting us, and to everyone who joined in for such a meaningful and memorable afternoon. ✨

Tune in tonight at 8pm! 🇺🇸

The American Revolution is one of the most important events in human history. We went from being subjects to citizens, and set in motion democratic revolutions around the globe. It’s a great story – and hugely relevant to today. I hope you can watch. On PBS starting Nov. 16.

Friends of Lakeview Cemeteries are doing incredible work restoring the gravestone of Isaac Corey, a Suffolk County Minuteman who served under Colonel Josiah Smith. Volunteers helped reset and clean his marker, and a new monument will ensure his service is never forgotten.

If you’d like to support this important preservation effort, please consider signing up to volunteer.

We had a great day at the NYDAR Districts X & XI Service for Veterans Luncheon this past Tuesday. Chapters from across Long Island raised funds for the Northport VA Medical Center and St. Albans VA Medical Center, and we packed a truck with paper goods, toiletries, and non-perishables for United Veterans Beacon House.

We also learned about the Bob Feller Act of Valor Award, which promotes citizenship and honors military service, as well as Canine Companions, which provides trained service dogs to veterans at no cost.

Thank you to everyone who donated and showed up to support our veterans. 🇺🇸❤️🤍💙

Today the Suffolk America 250 Committee toured the Manor of St. George, a key site in Long Island’s Revolutionary War history. The grounds were once home to Fort St. George, the British post captured and destroyed during Major Benjamin Tallmadge’s bold 1780 raid under General Washington’s orders.

Visiting the site where this pivotal action unfolded was a meaningful way to continue our work in commemorating America’s upcoming 250th anniversary. An inspiring day honoring our local history. 🇺🇸✨
