As this Election comes to a close, I want to take a moment to say thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to everyone who believed in me, supported me, and helped bring this vision to life.
To every volunteer who knocked on doors, made calls, hosted a yard sign, and shared my message with friends and neighbors, your dedication meant everything to me.
To my amazing campaign team, I could never thank you enough for everything that we accomplished together and the endless amount of time you poured into this campaign. Without the infrastructure you helped me lay down, I could have NEVER done this! I will say this, time and time again, I had the DREAM TEAM!
Most importantly to my husband and kids. My husband's encouragement and support to take over the house, the kids, to get up and help me put banners up all over the city after your long days of work. Don't go unnoticed. For all the weekends mom missed to be canvassing. The constant meetings. I hope my babies will see how capable they are of doing hard things, and that standing up for what you believe in isn't easy, yet everything you do, you must do with great pride and to the best of your abilities.
I also want to extend my deepest gratitude to all the unions and organizations who stood beside me. To have your support in something so big kept me inspired every single day. I hope you all remember I was very proud to have your endorsement and thank you for taking a leap of faith in me.
Though I didn’t come out on top, I couldn’t be prouder of what I accomplished. I can proudly say I gave this my all, this was NOT due to lack of effort. I took a huge step back from my personal life and I submerged myself into this race. I expanded my knowledge of the district, and what it means for our students and our community. As a product of the Pasco School District my heart will ALWAYS be here. I have seen our district do amazing for our educators, staff and most importantly our students. I only want us to continue to remember, that's why we are doing this. FOR ALL OF OUR STUDENTS. The children of our community and their future are WORTH IT.
As I’ve said before, every candidate starts somewhere. There’s no school for this — you learn as you go. What really matters is the love we have for our community. It’s that love that keeps us going, that reminds us why we step up in the first place. We do this because we care about the people around us and want to make our home a little better for everyone. This isnt goodbye, maybe just see you later.
With deep gratitude,
Valerie Torres
