Tri-Cities for Palestine

Tri-Cities for Palestine A community-based group focused primarily on the rights and liberation of the people of Palestine.

The only way to bring peace to Palestinians and Israelis is to end the cycle of violence. We do NOT promote violence, antisemitism, or bigotry of any form.

This fifth chapter by Mohammed El-Kurd is short and to the point. El-Kurd asserts that the the fault of Jewishness being conflated with Zionism falls squarely on the Israeli State's shoulders, and on those of the Zionists themselves, who shout from the rooftops that their right to steal Palestinian homes and land comes from the fact that they are Jewish. El-Kurd writes that it is then not the responsibility of Palestinians to surgically separate Jewishness and Zionism whenever they speak on their oppression, and that a lack of precision of Palestinian words can never do the harm that is done by the Israeli drones and bombs they are speaking out against.

Today we are looking at chapter 4 of Perfect Victims, in which El-Kurd discusses how Palestinians have even their emotions policed by those who would question their right to life. If they are less than superhuman in their ability to forgive and seek to comfort their oppressors, they are denied their humanity. El-Kurd points out how ridiculous this is, and identifies a few unhelpful though well-meaning sentiments along the way.

Remember there are still three big events for us this month, one we are attending (Protect Pushpum THIS FRIDAY), one we are tabling at (PFLAG Walk and Roll, May 16th), and our own event on May 23rd (Indigenous Joy Festival). Check out our stories for details!

Though humanity may be lacking in some, we see it in Thiago and Saif, and all of those who board the Global Sumud Flotillas.

Thiago and Saif are humanitarian activists, fighting alongside the Palestinian people for their freedom, yet both are being held captive in Israel after they were kidnapped by the IDF in International Waters near Greece and Crete. Organizing humanitarian aid and delivering it to a people in dire need is not an act of terrorism, but an act of humanity.

Their safety is at risk, and is becoming a greater risk every day. We cannot allow Israel to continue silencing those who have the courage to speak on their atrocities and deliver aid to the Palestinian people. Sign the petition to free Saif and Thiago:

The Palestinian people have a right to receive humanitarian aid.

The Brazilian government needs to act. Governments around the world need to act.

We stand with Thiago and Saif and all of those who board the flotillas to bring humanitarian aid to Gaza.

If you have not had the ability or opportunity to board the flotillas but want to help bring food to a Palestinian family, you can donate to a family at the link posted below:
https://chuffed.org/project/help-lubna-and-her-mother

Lubna Ismail is from Palestine, specifically Rafah, but has been displaced since the genocide began. If you are able to donate to this family, it will help them with food, housing, and medications/healthcare/doctors. Donations are a lot of Palestinian families only source of income, so your donations mean a significant amount.

Here is Lubna Ismail's Instagram page if you want more of her story and updates:

In this chapter, Mohammed El-Kurd uses the example of Shireen Abu Akleh, killed by an Israeli sniper while working as a reporter in Jenin, to explore various ways people distanced her from her identity as a Palestinian in order to advocate for justice for her. El-Kurd believes that doing so ultimately makes things worse for all Palestinians by conforming and conceding to the idea that Palestinians must meet certain requirements to be considered human, with a human's right to life. Palestinians are all humans, they all have human rights, and when we advocate for them or mourn their deaths we should act like we understand that.

What is happening to the Palestinians is an unfortunate truth that happens to many children, women, and even men around the world.

Silence is what allows atrocities like this to continue.

There are IDF members who are already walking the streets of the USA. If they can easily treat Palestinians in the disgusting manner they continue to do, don't you think they would treat American citizens the same way?

It has been time to use your voice, to speak up for the men and woman of this world who have been abused by power and sick men.

We get it, we are all exhausted. The system is built in a way to keep us all in survival mode, to keep us overstimulated.

The cycles will change if we collectively break it.

What does that look like?
It looks like community. It looks like supporting your neighbor and your friends. It looks like people coming together to share resources and knowledge and wealth. It looks like a broken community starting to heal and a better world starting to form.

If you resonated with this post, follow along to show support and follow for more.

In the meantime, if you feel powerless, you are not. You can show a Palestinian family who needs support a little love so they can have access to a few things they need.

A few things about Diaa in Gaza:
She is responsible for so many relatives including young children, and two of them have epilepsy. It's a struggle to afford food let alone medicine. When that medication is interrupted it can be really dangerous. The seizures can be triggered and be even stronger and more out of control than usual. She's really struggling. If you're able to share it with others or donate please do ๐Ÿ™
