July 15, 2026 Update. BARSTOW, CA. URGENT UPDATE! Cat Rescue Team will donate $250 for Phoenix and $250 for Tucker for their medical care and/or spay/neuter. We can also arrange transportation for the kitties within Southern California. They are on the same property, but not necessarily buddies, so they do not need to go together.
Based on reports from residents, some members of the community are cruel, intolerant, CAT-HATING people. Over time, one resident has described inhumane cat trapping practices by neighbors, including one that stated that he took missing cats and released them somewhere such as an apartment complex. He did not identify where. We have no way of knowing if that neighbor's statement is true, but a cat’s chances of survival drop significantly when a cat is suddenly dumped in a strange place. In another event, the perpetrator left a kitty in an uncovered trap overnight in damp, cold weather and told a resident he was not going to go outside and check the trap during the night.
When a Barstow resident got home yesterday, there was evidence that suggested cat trapping had taken place, with a mama and babies now missing! This is the same property where Phoenix and Tucker come to eat. We desperately want to prevent further victims from being trapped by the Barstow Cat-Haters. There are long-standing issues that need to attention from the city, but the urgency to get animals to safety must come first.
PLEASE SHARE — URGENT HELP NEEDED FOR TWO CATS IN BARSTOW, CA
Even if you can't foster, rescue, or donate, sharing this post could reach the person who can.
We've been helping cats in the Barstow area since 2021. Today we're asking our community for help because our resources are more limited than ever.
🧡 PHOENIX is a young orange tabby kitten struggling to survive outdoors with a severe eye condition. He needs veterinary care, safety, and a path to adoption. He has at least one littermate, and we'd love to see them rescued together if possible.
🖤 TUCKER is an adult black-and-white male believed to be feral. He has recently begun crying out, possibly because of his painful eye. Tucker needs to be humanely trapped for neuter surgery and veterinary treatment.
If an experienced rescuer or caregiver can help acclimate him to a safer environment, we'd love to hear from you!
These cats are living in an increasingly dangerous situation. A resident reported a dog being released to chase the cats, and there have been instances of cats being trapped in ways that raise serious animal welfare concerns. They need help!
