“Sin is like a snowball going down the hill. It just picks up momentum and gets bigger until you finally crash, and that’s what happened.”

Lost and alone in his cell, Daniel's desperate plea for a Bible ignited a life-changing commitment to serve God wholeheartedly. Now, the man whose downfall began with a street fight is a passionate advocate defending others.

Daniel never imagined that an opportunity he had while incarcerated would prepare him for the halls of Congress—but with God, all things are possible.

At Minnesota Correctional Facility–Shakopee, women created uplifting signs and wrote honest letters to their future selves.

During Second Chance Month, they also gave back in meaningful ways, creating thank-you artwork for volunteers and assembling flower seed packets with heartfelt notes for staff.

The ladies also hosted their Second Chance Run again in partnership with the treatment program on Mother’s Day. Stay tuned for photos and an inside look at the event!

When Pastor Michael Durso of Saints Church and Daniel Washington from Prison Fellowship first crossed paths, they didn't know they also shared a powerful calling.

Having walked the hard road of incarceration himself, Daniel now returns behind the walls to share hope and encouragement with others.

Together, they’re reminding people that your past doesn’t have to define your future.

Read their story and see how they're building a culture of welcome in their community.

Once a prisoner, Daniel Washington now leads prison ministry at Saints Church in New York City and serves on staff with Prison Fellowship. As Saints Church marks Second Chance Sunday, they invite churches nationwide to celebrate the power of second chances.

Prison can be a dark place. But Jesus is the light of the world—and His hope reaches even behind bars. In this Colorado prison, the light of Jesus is changing lives.

At Prison Fellowship Hope Events, local churches partner with the Church inside to encounter Jesus together. Through vibrant worship and inspiring speakers, incarcerated men and women—along with correctional staff—hear the Gospel message and experience God's presence. One powerful Hope Event can lead to lasting transformation.
