Protect your loved ones and the environment! Drop off unused prescription and over-the-counter medicines on Sept. 27 at the Cortland County Drug Takeback locations. Individuals who misuse prescription drugs typically get them initially from a family member or friend. Properly disposing of medicines prevents misuse and can also safeguard children from accidental poisonings. Proper collection and disposal also protect the safety of our water and environment. Flushing medications down the toilet or drain can contaminate water since wastewater treatment plants cannot screen for and remove medicinal chemicals. Medicines that end up in the landfill can also leech into the ground and contaminate groundwater.

85% of new mothers will experience the baby blues because of the sudden shift in hormones.

It’s common. It’s real. And it matters.
Up to 85% of new moms experience the “baby blues” after birth, feeling weepy, overwhelmed, or moody in the first two weeks postpartum.

But when those feelings don’t go away or get worse, it might be something more serious, like a maternal mental health disorder.

Know that you don’t have to figure it out alone.

There is help available if you are struggling.
